Psych Test -did u have to take one?

Recommended Posts

Mine was very easy. More like he was feeling me out to make sure I knew what I was getting in to. Sorry yours was rough.

I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork for the psych eval (like 15 pages). Then, I took two online tests that were a total of about 500 questions, and they were completely ridiculous. All true/false, and a lot of them, in my mind, were like, "well, SOMETIMES this is true, but OTHER times, it is false..." so it took a while to decide which I wanted to choose.

My personal favorite one was something like, "I sometimes laugh at dirty jokes." I'm sorry, but what kind of boring life do you have to lead to NEVER laugh at dirty jokes? :D

After that, I had a google hangouts meeting with the psych, who asked questions about my support system and whatnot.

I passed, so... I guess I am sane? 🤣

I learned a lot from those hundreds of questions. The message I took from the questions are if you are someone that doesn't respect authority or believes everything is a conspiracy, you may not follow doctor's orders. If you don't follow the prescribed diet following weight loss surgery, you could have serious complications or you could die.

Mine was quite beneficial. I had to do some paper tests and fill out forms, but then we had a discussion. She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses and helped me see what I needed to do to be successful. She also talked about transfer addiction, and how to find comfort and release of stress without the aid of food or other addictions. We talked about strategies for dealing with anxiety and stress. I found it to be actually very helpful and I still think about some of the things we discussed.

I had no forms to fill out. It was a very casual 20-minute conversation with a psychiatrist/psychologist (not sure which it was) just to make sure that I understood what I was doing and the fact that it was a lifetime commitment. Just a box to check and not a big deal at all.

I just took an exhausting and horrid psychological test! Has anyone else had to do that??

Mine was 5 hours of ridiculous, and the results were even MORE ridiculous, someday I’ll get it out and post it here. It said I would likely be successful with WLS but also that I have an inordinate fear of large animals.😂🤣😄

The test is ridiculous and mine took several hours. I was made to do 6 extra sessions of counseling I think before I could advance to the next stage. They cant tell who will succeed or fail from surgery by a damn test. It still pisses me off lol !! Thats okay though I showed them so they can take the test and shove it !

Mine was 13 years ago and was very beneficial. I had to filled out some questionnaires and meet with the therapist twice for hour sessions.

Helped me to be aware of some of my issues around emotional eating.

I actually don't recall my psych evaluation. My journal says I was worried about it, but it was basically a question and answer session where the shrink would ask a question then give a sense of the type of answer he was looking for. He said I was good to go for surgery.

I fooled him completely ;)

I’m feeling better today about it but do remember some questions I probably should not have answered the way I did, such as are there grey parts in law? Being a retired tax accountant I answered yes. Some of the questions that contained the word always I answered false even though I do that sometimes.

I was pretty honest in mine, and I remember I answered true to the grey parts in law question as well :D I am not a fan of absolutes, and was really annoyed that it was a True/False only. If it was a scale ("Always True, Usually True, Equal True/False, Usually False, Always False" or something), I would have been less annoyed ;)

If there was a surefire way to predict outcome insurance companies would have started using it against the patients applying for coverage long ago, lol.

I actually passed the damn thing but was ON the LINE if I remember correctly so I had to go do their extra counseling or he wouldnt pass me on for the surgery. As far as I was concerned it was a ploy for more money !!

I do realize it my be helpful for some and for those of you that get a benefit from it congrats.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
