Hi! I'm new, and looking for any tips or words of encouragement. I'm scheduled for banding on 12-18-07! I am so excited!!!!!!!! Finally I feel like my dreams are all coming true!!! I really didn't want to tell too many people until I knew it was really going to happen. All my labs and tests and insurance approval are all done. And I'm getting more and more excited each day. See i'm a mom of 8 and my littlest is turning 2 today as a matter of fact and I decided I want to be around for quite a while and enjoy my children grow up and play with them. There are a lot of health issues that run in my family, several surrounding obesity and I don't want that for me(thank God my children are much healthier and thinner). I want to live healthier and happier, and I have a great support system. My husband is wonderful, my kids are very supportive too. So if any one has any words to help get me through the next two and half weeks until the day that will change my life speak up!!!!!! I went shopping for all the stuff they said in my informational sheets, sugar-free pudding, Jello, low-fat yogurt, carnation instant Breakfast, slimfast, etc. Anyway gotta go finish getting ready for my baby's party.:nervous

Hi Lish! It's nice to meet you. It seems like you have everything in order for your upcoming surgery. It's good that you are prepared. I know you are probably getting a little nervous, but honestly, recovery really wasn't that bad. You'll be sore for a while, but just take it easy and be sure to follow your surgeons instructions. Walking really helps if you have a lot of gas pain after surgery. Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Welcome Lish and congratulations on your date ! :whoo::whoo: 8 kids, wow, you must have been busy !! :girl_hug: :) I came from a big family 9 kids but we lost 2 growing up so we were 7 over the years. There's a thread for December 07 bandsters so you'll find plenty of people who will be banded in December... it's a good idea because you are all moving stages around the same time. If you can't find it come back here and I'll give you more directions. Good luck.

Hi:

Anyone who can be a Mom to 8 must have alot of things going for her already. Congratulations on getting banded. Remember to get some rest afterward. If you're anything like me it may take a few months before you get your energy level back, and then it increases from there.

Good luck.

Sue

Lish, check out the pre-op/post-op thread. That's a great place for newbies to jump in. I would suggest checking into getting some clear Protein Drinks like Isopure (see this link...) index because those have been indispensible to me since surgery. Great way to get your Protein in with very little of the calories. (Each bottle has 40 mg protein and 160 calories). You can order them on-line, or some health food stores carry them. I found some GNC's carry it. Make sure you ask for the CLEAR drinks (not a powder or a shake).

Lish, you have done everything you should to prepare. Just make sure you follow your surgeon's diet when you have the surgery. It is very important to follow the diet so you don't do harm to the band. Good luck.

I stumbled upon the website while checking into any and all information about the lap band. I am in the process of getting things in order to have the paper work sent to my insurance company. FINGERS crossed, all will go well and we will know something soon.

I am a Kindergarten Teacher's Assistant and I drive a bus for my school. I enjoy my job and kids, but cannot get into the floor and do as much as I could before. I want to change all of that. The lap band is the way I choose to go.

I am looking forward to learning about this website and how it works. I am curious about the ticker and how it works.

I am looking forward to meeting some of you.:)

Theresa

Go to the TickerFactory.com and pick out the ticker you want

(I just figured this out today)

copy the 2nd bb code but don't use the on each end.

go to UserCP, click on signature, click on the square pic with a mountain and paste your url.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
