New, EXCITED, cant wait...date for band 12-18 (my sons birthday)

Recommended Posts

I would love any and all comments, tips, encouragement, support for my surgery.

I am 49 (50 Jan 25th).

I have a son 26 and a daughter 20. I also have a beautiful grandaughter who is 20 months old.

Dr. Demarko is my surgen. I have approx 150 pounds to lose.

My daughter is getting married April 26th and I am hoping to lose as much as I can until then. I know it wont come off at once and I dont expect it to. I just want to be able to keep up with my grandaughter and have a happy, healthy life with my family.

My husband and family are very supportive. Especially my sisters and my mom. It would just be nice to gain some new friends here that are going thru what I am.

Thanks for reading.... :girl_hug:

Welcome Judyblue! It's nice to meet you. I have a son about the same age as your grandaughter, so I know exactly what you mean when you say you want to have this surgery so you can keep up with her. I realized it wasn't fair to my son, that I couldn't do things with him that required a lot of physical activity. I'm sure that you will do great with your band and I wish you the best of luck on your way to a new, healthier life.

Welcome Judyblue! You are going to DO it and we are all here to help and be a shoulder for you. We will encourage you and root for you and when you mess up we will be the first to jump in and go "Girlfriend, get back up on that HORSE!!!" We've all been diet failures...that's why we are here. You are so lucky to have a supportive family (so did I). Your life is going to be changing in ways you cannot even imagine in the coming months, and it's going to be one heckuva ride! You've got a great outlook and your life is going to be taking a turn down a path you never thoughy possible. Welcome!

Welcome! This site has helped me so much so that I can re-focus what I need in my life. I am having a hard time losing my pre op weight. I am a huge emotional eater and could have had surgery today, but my work said I couldn't. So, then I got upset! It really stinks but I am rescheduled for Jan 2nd and it can't get here soon enough. I am really trying to up the Water and exercise. Hope it kicks in soon. I have also been writing down everything I eat.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
