Beautiful pic!

That guy sounds like someone not worth your time. There are plenty of compassionate people out there looking for kindness too.

I'm just 5 weeks post op and dating in general is an unkind world. If I was on a date with someone who made a comment like that, I'd reply by asking how they overcame one of their life's biggest battles and if it was easy for them? If I felt uncomfortable enough, I may just tell them this wouldn't work out and excuse myself. You're not there to please and bend to them. You're your own person and trying to find your significant other who cares about you. Maybe they apologize, maybe they don't.

I hope this helps. It's easier giving advice than listening to my own so I totally understand how you feel and you're not alone. I'm trying to remind myself I'm not in a hurry. Good luck!

I know your post is from 2020, I was sleeved 8-31 met up with my sister and a friend she brought along last night and he made fun of me about not being able to eat much. Kinda hurt my feeling, kinda blew it off and kept making conversation with others to avoid the comments. NOT sure what I would have done if on an actual date and comments were made, so now I skeptical about dating.

I say this for myself and for you. That guy was an a$$. What you do or don't eat is nobody's business. Don't let an immature jerk keep you from getting out there. It is important to set boundaries about your eating in a social situation. Good luck!

It has been 12 years since my husband passed. I am scheduled for surgery August 24. I have not dated at all since his passing But I feel this may change after my bypass. I am 60 years old. Have two wonderful grown responsible children. And three grandchildren that are the loves of my life

That ended very abruptly!! See you can tell I’m 60 because I am technically challenged… Lol… Just wanted to end on a positive note that good things are coming our way!! This is a start of a brand new world! Best wishes to all that are taking this journey.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
