Hi All! I had my surgery today. Experiencing some pain but the Benadryl and pain medicine keeps me asleep.
Anyone else experience this or have experienced this?
Sending happy thoughts everyone’s way

I have a lot of pain and I think is from the gas. I only been burping. The nurse is giving me a pain killer but said I will be discharged tomorrow. Not sure if at home I will be any better. Any suggestions?

Hi Everyone, I was having serious anxiety be fore my surgery today and shared that with the anesthesiologist, and she gave me something for my emotions.

I had anxiety twice where I had tears rolling down my face, body shaking and my BP went up high. Both times was when I was waiting to go into the OR for the scope and then vsg. I had my procedure done at a surgery center. The waiting area and OR doors were only a few feet away. Even time the doors opened, more fear set it that it was my turn. When it was finally my turn, there was no time to panic. The mask was on my face and I was out. I am 8 days post op. No regrets doing the surgery.

Today is my surgery day. I’ll keep everyone posted as soon as I can. Good luck to everybody having surgery today.

I ate a small amount of runny Weetabix (bit like porridge) last night, 9 days post surgery, but I don't think it was runny enough and have had some bad pains today. I hope I've not caused any internal issues.

If you are still on full liquids, weetbix even runny may be too thick for you. If your post op guidelines allowed for it at this point may be delay for a few more days. if they didn't please do the best for you and your new stomach by following the guidelines.

I have my bypass surgery Aug 25th. This is my first post here, so please let me know what to expect post surgery. My middle son is coming in to stay with me for a week.

I don't have a gastric bypass but if you look at the bypass forums you will likely find some posts from those who are (or were) one day out to a week or two out from surgery. It isn't far off for you, hope it all goes well for you

Make sure you do plenty of walking. Speak up to the nurses or surgeon if you continue to experience pain.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
