So when you get released from the hospital are you able to walk semi-normally, get into the car? Stand up for any length of time? I am not sure what to expect my first day home so will be very interested to hear how your journey goes. I have an 8 year old (single mom) and I want to prepare him. I just don't know if I'll be weak and in bed or walking around the house getting my own Water and chips. Keep us up to date. It's so useful to hear what one might expect so I can mentally prepare us both.

Well I could walk just fine. Even on the first day. The problem I’ve had since I got home was a bad headache, then I realized I was either dehydrated or had low sugar. So I drank some of those lil ocean spray apple juices they give you in the hospital. After a few sips I was ok. You won’t be able to lift much because you don’t want to rip your stitches but other than that I think you’ll be good.

Also... a clarification... did I thought a leak was gastric Fluid leaking. You were bleeding? Isn't that different?

I’m not sure... is gastric Fluid like stomach juices? It was definitely blood. He didn’t call it a leak, just a GI bleed. They checked my staple line an the arteries in my stomach 3 times before closing, so we’re really not sure where it came from.

I might be misunderstanding your question but I’ll give it a whirl. My symptoms of the GI bleed was stabbing pain in my shoulder when I moved a certain way, and I just had to ride it out while the muscles spasmed. Same for my side down to my hip. I could only take super shallow breaths or the pain I felt in my chest was excruciating. I thought I was going to hyperventilate in the CT machine since I couldn’t get any good breaths going.

Once the blood was removed I was only left with mild soreness. I feel like I did 1000 sit-ups today but I can handle that.

Oh my gosh @colormehappy I’m so sorry you had this happen. Sounds like all is well now and you can focus on healing.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
