faith, i cant remember the name of it. there are a few out there and one of them 'sucks in' much better.

i dont have any new ones with tags. my suggestion, if there is one near you, go look at them first (and try on, you want it to be really quite snug). if i have a moment this weekend, i'll go check, but Rick is really trying to have me avoid that store cause when i go, i leave with bags of stuff..

LOL, I hear ya!!!

I have only bought one piece of clothing since I've lost weight, which is doggone amazing for me. I got a pair of jeans that fit. I had to. I told myself I wouldn't buy anything until 100lbs was gone, but the pants were falling off...So I have a rope belt holding the others up :(

I don't have an Avenue really close to where I usually go, but I can modify my routes.

i went to my training appointment yesterday and although the weight is not dropping too much, the inches are dropping.

since last month, i've lost the following:

chest 3/4 inch

upper arm 3/4 inch

waist 3/4 inch

thigh 1/4 inch

calf 1/4 inch

my body fat percent is about 32.3% (cant remember exact cause im at work), 'normal' is 31.9%... i'm getting there!!!

Hey you know what chick, when you have your TT just think how much that body fat percentage will drop!!!! You will be below normal!!! :biggrin2::biggrin2:

Is BMI and Body fat % the same thing? How do you determine body fat %? I feel like I should already know this... maybe it's late, and I've taken some meds.? lol

no, body fat % is determined by either measurements and your weight or a 'pinch' test. it can also be done under Water - that is the most sophisticated and accurate method.

my trainer at 24 hour fitness does it monthly for me via measurements. BMI is based upon your height and weight only.

wow, i havent updated this thread in awhile. been hanging out with the Feb / March gang. :rolleyes2:

let's see ... doing Atkins, weight is dropping, working my ass off at the gym. i am now 'recommitted' (or should be committed, one or the other).

45 mins cardio a day 4-6 days a week (it was originally 5-6, but with the intense strength training, not sure if i can do both). then strength training/core work every other day.

ideal week will look like this:

Mon - 45 mins cardio

Tue - Core/Strength little bit of cardio

Wed - 45 mins cardio

Thurs - Core/Strength little bit of cardio

Fri - 45 mins cardio

Sat - training appointment with Steph and then running with DH

Sunday - day of rest

LJM: You're doing great. I'm exercise my butt off (literally), but not my stomach. The fat there is stubborn. I've lost ten of the 20 I wanted to lose with 1 month to go. I think most of the weight has come off my breasts! Oh well. Hang in there. We're going to make it!

Congrats LJM & Karey! It's tough to stay committed with the anxiety of surgery ahead. I'm doing much better, too, just trying to eat healthy and less of it, and keeping up with the exercise. LJM, I've had really good results in the past from Atkins (or other low-carb programs). It really goes along well with the band, since we're supposed to eat that Protein first, anyway! I like to take a slice of ham, sprinkle on some shredded low-fat cheese, and micro until the cheese is melted, then roll up and enjoy! Yummy.

Karey - i can relate and i'd love to get the girls done as well, but i want to hit goal and maintain for a bit for them.

Tami - that does sound like a great LC snack (errr, meal :rolleyes2:)

my restriction is so wonky lately... some days i can eat some days, not so much.

Atkins works best for me if i can get over 900 cals in me ... restricted days, that's not too easy.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
