that's really long. I'm wondering if they're going to do a bunch of appts that one day (psychologist, nutritionist, surgeon) rather than having you meet with them on separate days. The psych one was pretty long (for me...) because it included taking tests on the computer - I think I spent around two hours taking the stupid tests (maybe it wasn't that long - I can't remember - but it seemed like forever). Sounds like they're doing your first set of labs, too (given they're having you fast).

The clinic my wife and I went through usually does a 1 to 1 1/2 hour initial. They do the medical history and what not and then an appointment w the dietitian. Mine was split between the two so they could get me in and start me down the path (wife again scheduled for TOMORROW), so I won’t meet w the dietitian until later this month.

My first appointment with the surgeon is 3 hrs. But I meet with the nutritionist and the exercise coach at the same appointment I think they are each 30 - 1hr. Then my first appointment with the psychologist is 3 hours. Sounds like maybe yours is all three visits in one plus labs if they are asking you to fast first.

My first visit was about two hours. I met with the doctor, my 'Navigator' and the dietitian. That appointment was on 15 Jan 2020 and my final appointment before scheduling my surgery is scheduled for 11 Feb 2020.

I am having my first appointment on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. From the paperwork they sent me to fill out and bring to the appointment, it looks like it should take 2-3 hours.
After reading the Pre-Auth form my insurance requires, it looks like it might be a fairly uneventful approval process. My BMI is over 40.
I am happy I found this forum and especially this thread, since some people have similar stories.

Nice to meet you all,

Nina

Appointment twins 🥰

I have totally completed everything insurance required, I had originally went thru another hospital but doubled back to my original location. I hope the length of time is to complete everything needed to proceed.

If you remember, come back after your appointment and tell me how it went

I will check back in Tuesday night or Wednesday. Good luck to you.

I am really looking forward the surgery. Not having talked with the surgeon yet, I am thinking I will probably go with the bypass since I have had GERD issues. Logical choice it would seem.

I haven't met with surgeon yet. I saw dietitian and was given goal weight in 90-day diet before surgery scheduled. Must complete all tests (psych eval, sleep apnea, pulmonary function, EKG, EGD) and then see surgeon just before scheduling. I do see nurse practitioner once a month at weigh-in. She orders tests as we go. First visit with NP had blood work. Everything was fine except she wanted me to start B12 sublingual to get level higher before surgery.

So the last couple weeks have been crazy.... i had my consult appointment which was about 2 hours and it went quite well with only one hiccup.
There was some discrepancy between what the insurance told the surgery center and what I was told by the insurance. I called the insurance 4 different times and got one person twice and I was assured the information I was given was correct. So here goes, the insurance told the doctors office that I needed 4 months of nutrition appointment and follow ups.
The insurance told me only one month.

So, my nurse who is the bariatric “Navigator” said after my second appointment which is on March 11, with the nutritionist she will submit the Pre-Authorization form the insurance sent me and if they sign off on it we are good to go.

I had a cardiologist appointment last week also and was scheduled for a echo stress test which I had yesterday and passed easily. 😃👍🏼.

Saw the Cardiologist right after and he gave me the green light for surgery.

I have my Psychology appointment at 1:30 today.

I will report back in when I have more information.

Nina

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
