Hi, I am at a standstill with my weight-loss,

I want to know what quantity of food do you eat.

I don't want to rely on the sleeve to tell me when to quit.

I do that now and I want to make sure that isn't the cause of the plateau.

I stay under 1/2 cup per meal.

at one month out you will be in serious pain if you push it. Search this forum for the "week 3 stall" everyone has it

At one month out 1 was eating about 1 to 1.5 oz of Protein per meal, which is probably equivalent to 1/4 cup in volume (eaten over a course of an hour)...also, sometimes a meal would just consist of a Protein Shake which was about equivalent to 1.5 cups (drank over a course of 1/2 an hour).

Now, however, at 1 year and 3 months, I can eat up to 3-5 oz of protein (1/2 to 1 cup) plus salad (maybe 2 cups squished?) And can probably finish this amount in about 45 mins. There are days however that I feel meh about eating and I eat less.

But you are right about not letting your sleeve tell you when you to stop, as it will probably be too late by then. Pre-portioning your food is great way of control and be mindful of your intake!

I meant to ask as well. How many times a day do you eat?

If you are only eating 1/2 cup. Are you eating six times a day or three?

I read about it but my situation may be different as I had a revision. But that topic did give me some hope for the future.

About 5 times a day, but only twice a day at 1/2 cup, the other times are small "snacks" at maybe 1/4 cup

Dang! Is that by choice or pouch size sweetie? What kinds of food are you eating? What liquids calories are you having?

I was wondering the same thing. What does your team think about the amount you eat?

I agree with this - sounds like the dreaded three-week stall (usually happens during the third week, but not always - the first major stall can happen any time during the first 4-6 weeks or so of surgery). Just stick to your plan and the weight loss will start up again. My first stall lasted two weeks, but once my weight loss started up again, I dropped like 6-8 lbs within a couple of days.

I just met with the nutritionist and she didn't say anything was weird with that. I eat about 1,000 calories/day.

I'm a couple weeks behind you on my surgery date. I can handle about 1/4 cup of firmer foods, like egg whites. Closer to 1/3 of a cup of more liquid foods like yogurt or cottage cheese.

I am still having two Protein Shakes a day, then have a couple of small "meals" to round out the day. My target is around 600 calories per day, but my real focus is on 75+ grams of Protein and not stretching my pouch, so I eat and drink slowly and stop at the first sign of fullness (for me with my new pouch, it is the sensation that I need to burp, but it feels different for everyone).

You're actually a year and a couple of weeks. :) Congrats!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
