Trying to kick Sweet craving and Carbs bread

Recommended Posts

Need help struggling with sweet craving and bread carbs. How is everyone getting thru these cravings. Work (retail) schedule is crazy 10 hours days. Around food entire time. So temptations are there . I do make my meals but feel I’m eating to much or not enough. Drinking Water is null and void. Because I just do not like drinking plain water.

Need some good tips to get thru and defeat these cravings. Have 10:pounds from goal. Down 60 pounds.

I'm not particularly carb sensitive, but I know from some of those who ARE that if you can go really low-carb for a few days, the cravings for carbs eventually stop. You have to white knuckle it in the mean time, though - I've heard it's hard to get through!!!

Get some flavor drops or flavor packets to help with the Water. Just make sure that they are sugar free.

I make a gallon of kool aid at a time using Splenda. This helps me to get my liquids in.

Maybe take some high Protein Snacks to work and eat those when you are tempted with the carbs.

You can do this!! Many of us have made it through before you. Not easy but doable :)

^^ Second this.

When I eat carbs (i.e., sugar), I want it all the time, when I don't, I don't miss it.

If you can get through about 3-5 days of ultra-low carb, then the cravings will go away (well, at least that is my experience....)

Good Luck!

^^^ Third both of these!

Deep low carb is the way to go to ditch sweet cravings and bread cravings. IMHO.

As for Water, you gotta do what you gotta do. Seriously, water is non-negotiable and it also helps get you through cravings and head hunger. If you pound a bottle of water, the hunger goes away cuz your pouch is filled up.

Try to find something that works. I'd seriously avoid water drops cuz it keeps the sweet message/craving turned on. Try weak decaff tea? Try infusing water with berries (don't crush them) or citrus zest, or cucumber and mint? Try different temps. Add a slice of citrus to it. Do ANYTHING you can to learn to tolerate it. It will also help you lose weight.

Do you like coffee? I make plain black coffee with a ton of crushed ice. Sip that throughout the day.

For sugar craving, I opt for a piece of Sugar Free Chocolate or 2 tbsp of sugar free ice cream. But if you're the kind, who can't stop after a limited amount, I wouldn't recommend sliding down this route.

Oh and I also do hot chocolate with milk, hersey's cocoa powder and sweetener and a pinch of salt. This can also work.

This is an older post but I guess someone recycled it for a reason so….hersheys makes zero sugar chocolates if you can eat just a little bit also Quest makes candy bites that are chocolate with Protein. For salty cravings their protein chips are excellent as well. For carbs I agree that you just have to go cold Turkey for a few days and it gets easier.

I find that I don't like plain Water unless it's REALLY cold now. I drink a lot of iced coffee with milk and splenda and lots of hot tea. I also drink water with sugar free Starburst packets, 5 calorie juice, diet soda (my surgery center said carbonation is FINE after the first month), iced tea, basically anything that's low cal.

I agree with others that once you start with the sweets... it's really hard to sweet. I've been eating a lot of zero sugar sweets, but I'm not sure it's helpful in the long run. They still have a lot of calories!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
