Water intake and outflow

Recommended Posts

Hi All. I am just over a month post VSG. I am drinking 60-80 ounces of Water a day, just like pre-surgery. Pre-surgery I needed to use bathroom every 1/2 hour to hour to keep up, and it was always urgent. Now I only go around 3 times in an 8 hour period. I don't feel like I am retaining water, and no puffiness to indicate it. Anyone have similar, or know what this is about?

I constantly have my Water with me. I’ve always been that way. I drink between all meals, but I’m careful to take the 1/2 hour before and after breaks. I start at 6am and finish around 9pm.

I am pre op. On liquid diet now and have to go to BR all the time....not drinking as much Water as I should ,Just no where to put it....feel bloated all the time...I have a hyena hernia that will get fixed during sleeve surgery....Today I drank a banana Protein Shake as I did yesterday and both times I was so full of gas...I drag out drinking it over 30 minutes and belching like crazy.., and today Hubby said it is probably the hernia, man was I doing some hurting.Too. Had gall bladder taken out in June of this year....anyone else have this problem before surgery......I probably need to be in a pre op group asking this....sorry. Surgery is Oct 28th.

Same thing going on here too. I'd pee 10 to 15 times a day before surgery. Now I'm usually about 4 to 5 times a day with about 80 ounces of water a day. I dont feel like I'm retaining water either but there's no way I'm peeing out the amount I'm taking in. I'm also in a weight loss stall. It started over a week ago.

I've heard that the Banana Protein Shake does that to folks, but I have no personal experience with it. Have you tried another flavor?

I drink close to a gallon of Water a day and I realize that I don't have to go nearly as often. On the bright side of things is I never wake up in the middle of the night to go. So I take the good with the bad.

I think that your bladder has less stress on it as you lose weight. But I also think that once your body realizes you are getting regular Water it flushes out the Fluid that you were retaining and you don't have as many toxins to deal with so your kidneys become more efficient.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
