Feeling sorry for myself Today

Recommended Posts

So for those that don't know I had a sleeve done on the 12th Aug and my stomach twisted from top to bottom (only happens in 0.2% of patients so don't panic if you are pre-op) so I couldn't even get Water down, so on the 20th (after an OGD and failed dilation) I had a bypass which may or may not, in fact, be a duodenal switch (will ask when I see my surgeon on Sept 30th). I would quite like to know exactly what my anatomy now is lol :P

Anyway, I went through some pretty horrendous pain got through it all finally and came home ready to move on from it all, but am still uncomfortable, tired, feeling sick, etc.

It may well be from lactose intolerance which I finally figured out was a big issue for me this week, but after no lactose at all yesterday and finally a soft tummy this morning, rather than the solid painful one I had constantly the last week, I STILL feel like crap today

OH! writing this down has made me wonder if some of my medication has lactose in it, right need to check it huh!

It has just been 6 weeks of feeling unwell you know (since the 1st surgery) and whilst I am WAY better than I was; unlike lots of others on here getting back to work and their lives, if I had to go back to work now I actually wouldn't be able to and I am getting frustrated at not feeling 'almost normal' again

ugh moany moany moan whinge and whine, sorry for moaning just having a fed up day :D

You have been through a LOT! Physically and emotionally. Your body needs time to heal from all this trauma, so please try to not be so hard on yourself. You feel crappy. That's OK. Now just get better and heal. Your emotions will heal as your body heals. Find some fun stuff - puzzles, NetFlix binge, a good book, and hunker down and just baby yourself for a while. (But don't forget to walk!!!! You don't need a blood clot on top of all this.) You should be getting some nice weather about now so hopefully you can get out a bit and enjoy the fresh air. Hang in there!!!!

It's been a rough journey for you so far Bastian, it's not unexpected that after all the complications you've had and the revision surgery you will be feeling crap. Two surgeries which have radically altered your physiology have knocked you around a lot, it is just your body's way of saying that you need to rest and recoup.

I can relate to you wanting to get on with it, but your body just isn't ready for that yet, give the poor thing a chance to catch up lol!

From what I have read and researched it is going to be trial and error for quite some time with what you can not tolerate/makes you feel good/makes you feel crap etc you have to re-learn all over again what your new GI tract can take.

Be kind to yourself and take it very easy until you do feel better.

Hugs and best wishes hun.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
