It doesn't sound like excuses, we sound like we have alot in common. I have a form of arthritis in my back that causes the vertebrae to fuse togeter and my hips are beginning to fuse. I went to my rhuemetologist yesterday and he was amazed at the difference a little weight loss and exercise have made.

Have you tried any of the ski machine type exercise machines? I have a Tony Little Gazzelle that doesn't cause any pain to use. You can get those pretty cheap now at Walmart and JCPenneys.

What about a fill? Do you have good restriction? You know the only way this is going to work is for us to make it happen. I am about to go get a fill in an hour. I went by the treatment center and weighed last week and my weight loss had slowed don so it is time for another one.

Are you going to come to our get together? I can't wait to get to meet everybody from this page. we seem to have a great group going here and I think it would really benefit all of us to have that support.

Well I have to run. Let us know how you are progressing. Take care!

Thanks Jeannie for the tip about the machine, but I do have a treadmill that my husband paid a lot of money for. I started using it and it hurt my back and knees with the jarring motion. That did not make my husband happy. Right now he is the only one working and after shelling out more money for my surgery I shy away asking for more eqiupment until he can see more results. I don't want him to feel like he is throwing good money after bad until I feel I can get a better handle on my journey. I have had 5 fills thats 6.5 in my 10cc band. I am scheduled for another fill in 3wks. I am planning to attend the get together. I too look forward to meeting everyone.

We would love for you join us on the 7th! 30 lbs is nothing to be ashamed of. Remember, not everyone loses fast. I tend to lose in spurts. I just recovered from not losing anything in a whole month. It's very easy to get discouraged when we hit plateaus, but remember, it will pass.

I know exactly what you mean about finding time to exercise. I have a soon-to-be 2 year old, and I'm a SAHM too! Before I was banded, I grazed on food all day long, and it has been a very hard habit to break. Night eating was something I struggled with too. I think the reason I ate late at night, was because many times my day had been so hectic, and after hubby and son went to bed, that was my time. Food was very comforting. Food is not comforting to me anymore. I don't enjoy eating like I used to. Sometimes I really miss food, but most of the time I think of food as just something I need to survive. It takes time to change our habits, we can't just change overnight. In the meantime, all we can do is just try our best to get past these obstacles.

Lately, I've been exercising during my son's nap. He usually takes at least a 2 hour nap, so that gives me plenty of time to exercise. There are definitely days I don't want to. Hang in there, things will get better and be proud of what you have accomplished so far.

OMG! You just wrote a portion of my bio. I did not realize how much I was eating until I went for my consultation and the 302 popped up. I weighed more than I did when I was pregnant. By the way thats what people kept asking me(are you pregnant?). If only eyes could cut! Anyway I can not wait to meet you guys. I really needed this, someone who can really relate to what I am going thru.

Hey Mia! Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and it does not fit! Dont worry about the haters. You have us and when that T-shirt does fit GIRRRL look out!

And by the way WELCOME ALLI!

I'm sorry if i missed the time, I know we are meeting Feb 7th at Ruby Tuesday, but what time?

Thanks.

I was thinking around 5:30 or 6:00, what do you guys think? Does that give everyone plenty of time to get there?

Ok I'm freaking out! The area around my port is red and hot. I took pictures and sent them to Terri at Dr. B's office. They are calling me in some antibiotics to CVS just to cover me until I go in for my post-op tommorrow. What can this be guys? Think I have an infection? Gosh I hope they don't have to take my port out.

First Support Group Meeting will be on Feb. 7th in Tifton at Ruby Tuesday @ 6:00 pm

If this doesn't work for someone, please let me know and we'll change the time if needed. I'm supposed to start Jury Duty on the 4th, so I don't know exactly what that's going to entail, but hopefully (fingers crossed) when I call in they'll tell me I'm not needed.

This meeting is just basically to get to know one another. We're going to have a great time chatting about our experience so far and fellowshipping with one another. I hope as the group grows, we can move our meetings to a building where we can have speakers. Maybe people who have been successful with the band, could share their experiences and tips. Maybe have a nutritionist speak, or even Elizabeth. I'm just excited to get to know everyone! Hope to see everyone there!

I hope it's not anything serious! I'm not a medical professional, but I've always heard that if the area has fever, it could be an infection. There's no way they can see you today? Just my opinion, but if it was me, I would try to get in today and see them. I'm not trying to scare you, but an infection is something that needs to be taken care of fast, especially infection from surgery.

Mia, is the area swollen at all? My son got staph infection from the hospital in Moultrie, and his infection was red, fevered, and swollen to the size of about 1/2 of a golfball.

No, its not swolen, just red and warm to the touch. I can send you pics via email if you want. I am totally freaking out and they insist that I do not need to come in, that it will be fine to wait till tomorrow and to just start on the antibiotics. That if it is indeed infected, he would be Rx'ing me the same antiobiotic he called in. Think I should insist he see me?

ok, i sent them, see what you think. It looks alot like broken blood vessels, but the more I look at them, the more worried I get. What the heck could this mean? I sent terri an email asking could she move my appt up to this afternoon and I would just go- My health is more important than work.

Terri says that it may be a reaction to the glue. But i'm thinking not so much because it is not red around my incision- its red around my whole practical boob aside from the incision.

Mia, have you been wearing a bra that rubs against your port insertion site. If so it may just be irritated due to that. I know it took me a while to get used to my bra against my site.

Mia, it almost looks like a huge rash. I'm glad to see that the port incision looks okay. I would think that if it was an infection due to surgery, the incision would be irritated. I don't know what to tell you. Maybe they'll be able to see you today, it's better to be safe than sorry.

BUT, it is red on some of the areas my bra doesnt even touch- so that is what has me worried still...I guess Terri is at lunch, I can't get her.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
