I’m about 48 hours post-op. Surgery was Monday at 10am. No complications.

Monday and Tuesday were rough. I felt like I was in much more pain than I should have been. I couldn’t reach or bend and getting in and out of bed or in and out or a sitting position was so excruciating I would yell whenever I felt the incision pain. The hospital (Mass General in Boston) thought I was doing well and discharged me yesterday, about 28 hours post-op. The ride home was painful, even in the passenger seat, reclined. I definitely felt a lot of regret, especially on Tuesday, which was more painful than the 12 hours after surgery.

I haven’t been sleeping well. It was very hard to sleep in the hospital, even with earplugs. The longest period of sleep I’ve had was this morning, from like 6am to 9am. The gas pain is subsiding, and the incision pain is less than it was last night. I’m up now walking in circles around the around and taking little sips of Gatorade Zero and Premiere Protein. Feeling a lot better than yesterday. Extra strength Tylenol and occasional oxycodone only when absolutely needed is helping, as well as ibuprofen, which I can only take through tomorrow.
When did the pain kick in for you? Im in the hospital, my procedure was at 2pm. Right now I have very little pain. Just some soreness. I keep waiting for it to come but nothing. Hoping I’m in the clear.

Hello August friends!! [emoji4]
Ive been mia since my surgery but now that I’m a bit better I just wanted to give you all an update.
My surgery was on 8/5 and I went in with zero nerves and just ready to get it over with. The surgery went well but WOW was I in pain! I read people get pain in their shoulders and chest but all my pain was just in my stomach. My stomach hurt so baddddd. It was all the gas I’m assuming. When I woke up they asked me my pain level which was like a 10 for me and they tried to give me pain meds but nothing worked. They tried 4 kinds of meds and nothing! It was like I was immune. So I spent each day in the hospital dealing with the pain and taking nausea medication. I was throwing up blood and flem each day and which sucked. I spent three days in the hospital because I couldn’t drink two shakes a day. I was walking a lot and doing everything I was suppose to, just not the shakes.
Since I’ve been home things have gotten better. I no longer have the stomach pain BUT I can’t drink any Protein Shake. Honestly, I’ve been taking in maybe 0 to 5 grams a day of Protein. I’ve been living off Water and some homemade Soup. Before surgery I was able to tolerate the shakes. Now it’s impossible. I can’t drink any milky ones just water and even when I do drink water based ones I still feel like puking. Just the smell of it turns my stomach. I’m hoping to move on to puree soon so that I can get the nutrition I need from real food. All the artificial sugar from the shakes sticks to my tongue and I just can’t deal with it.
I’m one week two days post op and I can tell I’m ready for the purée because some of the Soups I made had lumps, eggs, and were not the smoothest and I have been able to drink them with no problem at all.
As for as my weight loss goes, I gained two pounds from the hospital. From today I lost 23 pounds post op and 10 pounds from the liquid diet. So far so good! I wish you all a speedy recover and smooth sailing! Let’s stay strong and positive!

Congratulations MarvekGirl!!!!!!!!! I've been wondering how you are doing!!!!! I'm so so happy for you and Wishing you continued speedy recovery! You already on the other side [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122] Can't wait to join you tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞 You are already on the loser's bench! I hope that the weight continues to melt off!!

I’m post op day #3. I went home about 24 hours post op. Tuesday and Wednesday were rough. Pain, and soooooo tired. I took two naps yesterday! I also walked around costco and later in the evening to the end of my block and back. Yesterday I managed 22oz Protein Shake (total of 60gms) and 45 oz Water. I was quite queasy by bedtime, but a dose of zofran took care of it. Still not down to my pre-op weight, hoping the rest of that IV Fluid flushes out soon so I can the scale start to move!

Hi All... I was originally scheduled for a June surgery but during the surgeon's last check of my labs she discovered my TSH levels were stupid high (75!!!) so everything g group d to a halt till I could get that under control. Well 2 1/2 months later everything is good TSH down to .48 and surgery scheduled for August 21st!! So here I am again on my pre-op diet. 3 shakes a day, fruits and veggies, broth, popsicles, jello... you know, the usual. I find that I'm not hungry so much but the excess acid in my stomach would lead me to believe otherwise. Regardless of that, I'm super excited everything seems to be in place now. Hope everyone who's had their surgery is doing well and bask of luck to all of us still to go [emoji847]

Hey scrappygirl123. My surgery was scheduled for the same day as yours but got bumped up to the 26th,so we are almost surgery twins. Sad to hear the hubby isn’t a great support system, mine to. I don’t think everything will hit home u til after surgery. Good luck when your days comes!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
