How are you feeling?

How are you sleeping?

Are you ready?

Shopping done?

Cupboards cleaned out?

Is your Christmas shopping done?

Who's cooking Thanksgiving dinner for your family?

What will you do on Thanksgiving?

Let's stick together & support eachother through the next few days, weeks & months!

Are you ready for some smaller clothes?? Yeah!:whoo:

Hey TLWEMPEN,

Good to hear from you...Don't worry about your ex - They'll be amazed before too long! It's great you're doing this for you and your kids. Your whole family will be healthier & pleased with you.

I'm amazed you're going back to work on the Monday after your surgery. I've booked the whole 2 weeks off. Hope I can go back sooner, but kinda planning on the worst case scenario.

Did you have to do a pre-op diet?

i've had to c-sections, so not to worried about the pain, besides, i can sit at my desk for a week and take it easy at work. have to get moving so i can get the kids off to school and sice i live 20 miles from there school and work, might as well go to work after i drop them off. my husband is a truck driver, so i'm on my own getting them to school.

did pre-op for 2 weeks, lost 11 lbs.. did do u do one? all i had to do is high protien, so not very difficult. all the holloween candy around here is not helping. having thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and hoping i can eat a little of x-mas.

good luck to u and keep me posted on your progress!!

Hi all,

I'm being banded on November 20th as well (Dr. Mumford, SWLC, Mississauga). I think I have it a bit easier than some of you... I don't have children so no Hallowe'en candy temptations thank goodness! And being Canadian, we had our Thanksgiving in early October. My biggest hurdle will be Christmas and I hope to have a handle on things by then.

I've had surgery a couple times before so I'm not particularly nervous about the actual procedure, but I am anxious to get it all over and done with.

Good luck to you all!!! :)

I have the optionof taking off next week or two. I will see how I feel. I am in college so its not much physical work for me. Looking forward to interacting and sharing this brand new experience with you guys.

How did you do your ticker and stuff? Is that under signature? I am new and need help.

Hey Summerbushnell - you just need to go to Tickerfactory.com. Once there, towards the bottom of the page you'll see:

Weight Loss

Click on it. You'll have plenty to choose from. Once you've chosen, you just follow the dirctions.

Once the HTML code is displayed, you'll need to "copy" with your mouse & paste into your signature on LAPBANDTALK.COM (see your user setup pages). I believe it will show 3 different versions of code. I had to use the 2nd set of code (the first set didn't work for me)

Good luck!:scared:

Just a few more hours to go before we're "banded together"!

I am so excited for each of us. We all get a new start. A clean slate. A fresh beginning. Forgiven for all past failures - we are free to move forward.

I will keep each of you in my prayers. Don't be fearful.

Write back soon & let us all know how you're doing, how things went & keep us posted!

Hi everyone,

I am also being banded tomorrow. I am nervous but calm at the moment. I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet but I don't think that will be a problem. I have to be at the hospital at 6am. I am glad it is early so I can get it over with.

Good luck everyone!

I envy you, Jill.... I wish mine was scheduled for early morning! I'm scheduled for 12:30 on the 20th. Going without so much as a sip of Water after midnight tonight will be really hard for me. But I know it'll all be over before I know it so I'll try not to obsess about that part!

I'm so excited to be starting this journey! Good luck to everyone tomorrow!!

I am being banded in the morning (20th). I have to be there at 5:15 and surgery at 7:30. I am sooooooooo nervous, scared and worried about soreness. I have to be back at work next Tuesday. I wonder if I am doing the right thing. But I am so mad at myself for getting so fat. UGH--wish me luck!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
