Got sleeved yesterday morning and night 1 was rough

Recommended Posts

Hey all. Excited to finally have it done but post op has been tougher than expected. Ended up hacking and throwing up little blood clots most of the night. Foam was tough to deal with. Tried to drink Water to deal but hard to keep it down. Tried to get up to do first walk and got really dizzy and kind of passed out for a bit. Feeling a tiny bit better now - anyone else have these issues?

No, This was not m experience with surgery.

My pain was managed well with meds. No vomiting. Walking went well. I got my food in and the rest was recovery at home. I bounced back well.

Kinda, we found out I was allergic to the medication they were giving me to control the pain (who knew!) so I threw up all of night one because of it. Once they stopped giving me the pain meds in the morning I stopped throwing up. They didn't even let me walk until the morning and walking wasn't bad but after one lap on the surgery floor I got really dizzy and had to sit down.

I had a ton of nausea and spitting up foam on the first day post-op, but by day 2 it was all just fine. I never had any pain or blood.

I was in a ton of pain, but not what you are dealing with. I hope you feel better soon!

I was a train wreck for about 3 days and then i couldn't have more than a few sips of Water the first few days i was home. It's normal and you will be fine. You will literally grow into it, and learn how to chew food and not drink water at the same time like everyone else. Get ready for some big changes and weight loss. The fun has just started!

As for your blood clot question, it is normal. My best friend had it done before I did and he was puking clots of blood, which i never did after mine. He's fine, he went from 350 pounds to 174 pounds in 1 year. Hang in there.

Thanks. Talked to doctor this afternoon. Went through GI Ray to check for leaks. Looks like it was all clear. Said the blood was likely from the tube down my throat which may have scratched it up. Pumped me with extra fluids and am starting feel better now. Hoping this is just a short term bulb in road to recovery.

So things were getting better than took a bad turn again. Blood levels kept dropping even though I was starting to feel better. Surgeon started getting worried so they had to take me back in and open me up again at 3am on night 2. Found 2 liters of pooled blood but no obvious source. Ended up having to do a blood transfusion, closed up some minor leaks and now hoping it turns around again.

Day 5 in the hospital. Feeling much better - hoping I get go ahead to go home tomorrow. Still not sure why there was the blood loss. Surgeon said it was one of those extremely rare circumstances that I unfortunate experienced.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
