wow....this is like being in a huge family of nothing but sisters. But thats cool, I always wanted sisters anyway, I only had one miserable, drug addicted, brother who has caused nothing but pain to our family. ANYWAY.....

I went to Sams and bout about 300 dollars worth of Premier shakes and the Clear drinks, which taste ok but leave you with a very dry mouth so I really do not care for the Premier Clear Protein Drinks. Too bad I bout 5 cases. LOL

Surgery is 6/15 and I am only supposed to do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet but I have been trying my best to start it early. I have been doing ok but I find myself getting bored at night, especially since being laid off my job a couple nights ago. So I have been slipping in a meal or two of regular food. Still somewhat healthy and has Protein, like hamburger patties and sausage. Boredom is one of my worst enemies when it comes to eating. I have got to find something to occupy my time, something that won't cost money since I am jobless now.

I am also have a hard time weaning myself off the alcohol. I wouldn't call myself an alcoholic, but the last year os so I have found that a couple or a few glasses of Crown Royal or Vodka help me to fall asleep. I don't ever get hangovers and something tells me it is safer than taking sleeping pills (which never worked for me in the past anyway). But, I do know that I need to stop drinking soon and at least until a couple months post op, and even then, only vodka.

Anyway, Just figured I would jump on here and babble a bit rather that go look for food. LOL

I know some of you are starting Instagrams for this journey, If anyone is interested, I have one that is mostly of st journey with my VSG. I haven't posted in a while since gaining back a bunch of weight but I will probably start again with this upcoming revision. Feel free to follow me at JamesL_1973 and I will follow back. Look through my followers, there are a LOT of very inspiring people in there.

I wish there was some sort of calendar (or editable list) our group could see so we would all know what days in June our collective surgeries fall on and who is going in that day...

It would be nice to be able to quickly acknowledge those big dates and the people going into surgery. It would also help in finding your surgery day "twins" easily. :)

I know I have seen a ton of June 3rd people on here like myself, but its pretty easy to lose track quickly in a long thread.

Not sure if its even possible, but it would be cool! 💙

Quick update. Surgery on HOLD. Dr. looking for cause of high white blood counts. Baratric signed off, PCP says no go. CT scan and referral to blood doc. Very disappointed and worry about what they will find.

Well I am still feeling a bit nervous. I am questioning whether or not I have made the right decision. I keep telling myself that I come this far and there is no need to turn back now. Anyways, I have been approved so it is like having a blank check.... I just have to get through the clearance hurdle and hopefully my nerves will calm down. Tomorrow, I will attend my pre-op education class, so I will come back let everyone know what went on. So until tomorrow, have a great rest of your weekend.

The JuneBunch😄

Whenever you question yourself, remember every time that you've shied away from doing something because of your weight...or every failed diet attempt. You can do this :91_thumbsup:

Hi Everyone!

I'm new here but not new to WLS. I had a VSG in 2010 and while it worked well for a few years, the next few years were rough and I re-gained. I'm seeing the same surgeon for a DS; she's scheduled it for June 14 (that's when she can get the robot!), even though I don't have official insurance approval yet. So I'm nervous. And excited.

I'm a long-happily-married woman of a certain age, with a grown daughter, a perfect Golden Retriever named Stella, and 2 cats, mostly decorative. I live north of Boston and will be having my surgery with Dr. Sheila Partridge at MassGeneral/Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She is terrific.

Looking forward to following this thread, especially as people start having their surgeries!

Welcome :)

Hello everyone! I could have sworn I wrote a post already in this forum but I can not find it anywhere!! I’m a June sibling as well and will be having the RNY!

I am 5’9 291lbs and a mother to 2. I am engaged to the love of my life, our wedding is in October!

I’ve had 2 csection... anyone heard how recovery is with RNY post cesarean ?

I need advise on preop diets, and how the heck to decide how to buy a dress!! 🤨

Can’t wait to get to know y’all!

I'd also be interested to know how scar tissue from a previous c-section/tubal will affect the surgery/recovery.

As for how to buy the dress...i'd suggest waiting as long as possible and then making sure they have a very good seamstress.

Hi everyone!
Kind of down today. I have a tentative surgery date of 6/4/19. Just need PCP clearance. Today was the 4th visit in a month. He keeps ordering the same blood work. Today he smiled and said "better this is good news". Then ordered another blood test. Results will be in Wednesday. (They are watching high white blood cells and have done 3 studies, no cancer cells but abnormal cells present. I have a son with lukemia CML.). Surgeon insurance gal worried we are cutting authorization close. She penciled me in on both 6/4 and 6/11. When I worry I tend to eat and my weight has been stuck at 215 for about a month. So BMI 39-40. So now not sure how long for preop diet. So weight check on Wednesday. Sorry for rant, just so close and still soooo far away.

New_Me 2019

The increased white blood cells could just be from an infection. That's the bodies' response to infection or what it perceives to be foreign. This is all to make sure that you are as healthy as you can be going into surgery.

Think Happy Thoughts :)

Hi! My name is Tiffany. I am a 50 year old mom of 3 adult kids. I had the lap band from 2005-2012. Never lost weight. Followed the program to the letter. My doc used to guilt me and tell me I was his only “failure”. He didn’t even offer me the choice of revision when I had the band removed. Unfortunately I’ve been misinformed for the past 7 years. People told me I couldn’t have another bariatric surgery after failing one. My PCP moved and I mentioned it to my new doc and she told me I could indeed have another bariatric surgery. I’m an oncology RN that has been disabled since 2012. All of my visits are done, I’m waiting for the surgeons office to call with a date, but he thinks the end of June. Not, by the way the same surgeon!!

Welcome and good luck :)

Hopefully we'll be a much more inspiring group of siblings for you then! 😊

As far as the Premier shakes go, at least it sounds like you like the shakes? I tried a clear Protein Drink once and it tasted awful to me, so I have shied away ever since. I also tried Syntrax Nectars and didn't like those either. I think I just need to stay away from fruity drinks 😉

Boredom is my worst enemy when it comes to food. I'm sorry to hear about your job situation 😕 Being on the forums is probably a great help to keep you from straying too much. Or maybe even getting out and going for a walk, or doing some similar physical exercise a bit more, may help?

As far as alcohol vs. sleeping pills, I'd suggest talking to your doctor/care team about what you could use to help you fall asleep after the surgery? I was struggling with some insomnia years back and, for a while, was taking Ambien, which I wasn't too keen on; I was able to switch to melatonin and that worked out pretty well for me, though I haven't vetted how safe that will be post-op. You may also find yourself getting a fair bit of sleep post-op, and maybe that will help you start to achieve more of a sleep rhythm.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
