I am and was an RNY Bypass, surgery-weight was 319. At 8.5 months I am approaching Onederland, if last weight correct, within 12 pounds, with my blips and bumps, feared I would NEVER make it. But I am on the brink and. will never go back to what I was before. No food tastes so good as feeling smaller feels. I keep "undergrowing" my clothing. only thing that still fits from last summer are my sandals, and they are almost too wide. Your feet don't sprawl out so much with less weight pushing down on them. I tell my son my face looks like a train wreck on the B&O, he says it is not, and besides everything is AMTRAK anyway. I have almost Native American cheekbones, who would have thought they were lurking under my Moon-shaped Face? Sorry Aunt Minnie for all your denials, but there is Too Much Evidence in the Family Pictures, there a few Indians in Our Family Woodpile! Not everybody sent back to England and Europe for Wives! At least I have more rights to be here than the Average Settler did. I'm not wrong and Still Buckeye strong!😛❤😛

Welcome to our little thread!!! I know how you're feeling. I'm terrified but soooo excited. I thought June wouldn't get here fast enough but it seems like the days are flying by now lol. I started to slowly buy stuff for my preop and post OP diet. What kind of preop diet are you having to do?

Hello all! My surgery date is June 3rd, I’m having a revision Lapband to RNY. I’m 48, married and an empty Nester. My weight now is 258 and I’m 5’5”. I started my pre-op diet one week early so I can get used to just liquids for the liver shrinking diet. I feel like I’ve lost weight already but I have not been on the scale. I’m really excited and I know these two weeks will go by fast. I have a personal training session today because I joined a gym with a pool because I am a swimmer. And I want to get toned as I’m losing weight so that’s why decided to start a regimen. I actually don’t want flabby arms or flabby thighs so I’m trying to get a leg up on it.

I got my approval today and my surgery date is June 3 and I am so excited. I wanted a May date but oh well at least I got an approval. I was sleeved in 2015 however it was unsuccessful. I am determined for this bypass to work. I wanted the bypass the first time but the surgeon suggested the sleeve. This is the last and final time can’t get another revision after this but I wouldn’t one another one.

Hi! Thanks for starting this!
I have a surgery date of June 3rd for RNY. I am 48, a mom to two great boys and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years. I am an elementary education teacher and a special education specialist, though I have taken time off while the kids are/were in school.
I decided to do this because I have sleep apnea, high BP and my family is strongly diabetic. At 5'8 and 275 pounds it was time to get real, without some serious changes this was not going anywhere good.
Really looking forward to hearing from everyone as we move forward!
Hey! I'm having surgery June 3rd also, but I'm having the gastric sleeve. I'm new to this for him and I don't really know how to follow this post or follow people. Can someone help?

I'm scheduled for June 3. My highest weight was 235 and I'm around 224 right now. I'm 5'3 and 59 years old, so because of my age, I am anticipating a slow and hopefully steady weight loss.
This site has been a godsend because I have learned so much from the posters. Thank you all for your knowledge and tips.
I'm also scheduled June 3rd for a gastric sleeve. I'm 55 years old and my present weight is 275

Welcome to our dysfunctional and beautiful family!!! This place has helped me so much so far. It really helps knowing there are more people out there dealing with the same thing and knowing we are here to help each other. Your surgery is just a little over a month away. I bet you're so excited!!! What kind of preop diet do you have to do? Mine is 2 weeks of liquid only. Yuck lol
My doctor is only requiring a wind a liquid diet before surgery. Which I guess is lucky anyway, because I know I'll have to do the liquids for two weeks afterward which I'm sure will be plenty! Good luck to everyone

This is my third day on this liquid diet. I can’t wait to get home from work and eat cream of wheat. This liquid diet sucks but I have to keep pushing and I am so tired of peeing all night until I don’t get much sleep

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
