I'm tentatively scheduled for RNY on July 2, so I'll be quietly lurking in the shadows on this group. I can be like the a very distant cousin in your little family LOL

I'm a teacher, so my bariatric team knew that I wanted a summer surgery. I'll be done with all of my requirements Monday April 29, so I'm a little ahead of the game.

Good luck to us all!

Your surgery day is my birthday!!!! Haha. I'm glad you decided to hang out in our little group. Maybe you will get lucky and get moved up! What grade do you teach?

Thank you!

Thats a good idea, I should start prepping to. I also plan on clearing all of my cupboards out!

My private surgeon (I’m in the UK), is putting me on ‘the milk diet’ for 2 weeks prior to surgery.

I keep starting to clean out my cabinets but then I get side tracked lol. Between my 3 kids and being so nervous I find a million other things I need to do lol. I've heard of the milk diet and I do not envy you for that lol. I am stocking up on sugar free Jello so that I will have some texture.

Crossing fingers that I will have a June surgery! Had a check in with the surgeons office yesterday and I have one more PCP appointment before we submit to insurance but they are thinking end of June, early July. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Yay!! Time flies by so fast and pretty sure we will all be on the losers bench :)

I got my approval today and my surgery date is June 3 and I am so excited. I wanted a May date but oh well at least I got an approval. I was sleeved in 2015 however it was unsuccessful. I am determined for this bypass to work. I wanted the bypass the first time but the surgeon suggested the sleeve. This is the last and final time can’t get another revision after this but I wouldn’t one another one.

Congrats! My new date for revsion is now 6/14. Which is funny because my sleeve was on a Friday too! How long did it take for your approval?

My offical insurance approval is not in yet. However, this no longer worries me! I have some pending other possible options.

Good Evening Ladies,

‘I am new to the WLS forum. After 6 months or so, I have finally received my surgery date which is June 3. I have been trying to make my mind up for about 8 years and am ready to get this thing done. I’ve had all the tests completed and everything was fine except for an abnormal ecg. When I visit my doctor on the 13th for the final clearance, I am crossing my fingers everything will come out ok. So if you don’t mind another June surgery buddy...... I would love to tag along. Btw, I love the pumpkins too..😃

Congrats! I'm also 5ft, my surgery is scheduled for June 26th on the first one going in that morning.

Hi everyone, my date was June 3rd, but I was bumped up to May 24th. I’m a bit nervous, but excited at the same time. I am a mother of 2 children, happily married, living in Florida. I’m done with all my pre-op tests, diets, and happy to start my new life soon! I will keep all posted!

Hi all- I have a surgery date of June 12th. I am 46 years old and have spent most of my life overweight. I have done every diet known and was fortunate one time with WW I was successful- 130 pounds in 2 years. I remember the joy I felt, how attractive I felt, I didn’t mind taking pictures and then I quit smoking (9 years ago on June 10). I lost my sister, my children’s father and my mother in that time, I have had surgery on one foot and have developed an issue with the other. I have gained 85 lbs back (down 25 since this journey began last summer). I am just done just watching life happen while others live it. That is all on me I know, I do not blame anyone for the situation I am in, I love food and have a giant sweet tooth. I am going to be a Grandma for the first time in july (she is due on my Moms birthday) I want to be the kind of grandma she was to my boys. My husband and children are so dedicated and excited for me, I am so lucky to have them. I noticed the other day I said to myself I like you, lol some people may not get the humor in that but I sure did. I know that it will be a long road and I will have setbacks and bad days. No hope to meet some others who are like me ❤️

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
