Don't save your skinny jeans...

Hey I actually have a couple of size 12 jeans and cords I'd love to offer to another bandster if anyone is interested as well as a few other clothes I no longer fit. I planned on eventually donating them to goodwill or a womens shelter but would actually rather pass them onto another bandster working her way down the scale. PM me if any of you are interested in a more detailed list. Warning on the pants I am 5'2" so most are short leg though even with a short leg they were too long but rather than cut them shorter making it even less likely to find someone else to give them to I duct taped them up inside the leg.

OH MY GOSH!!! THAT IS THE BEST IDEA!! I'm 5'2 and i have a 26 1/2 inseam and i am ABLE to hem my pants, but i'm not very good at it. That is such a great idea. I would love to get the clothes from you, but i'm a long way from that size ...lol... duct tape is going to be my new best clothing accessory!!

Recycling clothes right here on this site! That's fabulous! I have some size 18 and very soon to be 16s I'd be willing to give up if anybody's interested. I am also looking for 14s... that's the size I am assuming I'll be in by Christmas or so...

I love this thread! Dana

I lost 80lbs when I was 18 y/o so I literally have about 15-20 pairs of jeans ranging in size from 18 to 10. I'm a 18/16 now so I have pants to fit me through a large portion of this weight loss jouney. Yey! =)

I'm with Faith, I'm disappointed in the LACK of clothing sizes I went down. I've resigned to the fact, I was wearing clothes that were too small to start, so I was in a 24/26 (stretch jeans & fitted tops) which probably SHOULD have been what's after that.. 26/28?? Now I can comfortably wear 20/22 bottoms and 18/20 tops. I've lost almost 70lbs, so I WISHED it was more in size department. Guess I should be happy, though..

I have shirts I've held onto that were too small, I'm waiting to wear (3x junior size at wal-mart). I tried them on about a month ago and they're still skin tight and won't cover my belly.

Laura, thank you for posting. I though I was the only one who could lose a large amount of weight and not lose size. People ask me how much I've lost (because it is showing in my face) and when I say about 74lbs, I know they must think I'm nuts.

Perhaps I was wearing things I shouldn't have as well. I do notice that the sweater I bought one year ago to go to a friend's B-day party that was tight and really quite short on me actually fits this year (yep, I wore it on her birthday again-didn't realize that until this very moment...wow!). The sad part is that it is a 3X.

Ooooooo, DAMN! I just realized my hunting clothes I bought last year (that I'll need next week) will be toooo big on me, though. They were a little loose then, doggone it. I don't have the $$ to go buy new scent-lock stuff and I can't see buying $200+ worth of stuff that I won't be able to wear next year (hopefully). Guess I'll have to hunt in jeans and thermals and stay in my blind with the heater running.<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message -->

When I started I was wearing my materinity clothes even though by DS was 15 months old !! :faint: I was easily a 30/32. I have never been so happy to fit back into a size 24, my pre preggo pants !! Hopefully I won't be in those for long though !:)

I also wanted to add that you can get extra life from your clothes if uou can find a good seamstress they are usually reasonable and depending on the garment they can take in a few sizes !

Hmmm... I am good at sewing myself, but I don't own a surger. I'd be afraid my pants would fall off in the middle of a Friday night rush! (i'm a server)... that would be so funny! At least its dark in the restaurant and my cellulite wouldn't show that much! lol...

I may just try that. I also have a friend who is pre-bypass surgery and is looking for some clothes. She is a 20/18, so my clothes may benefit her.

I'm also sad to give away really nice clothes I have... I FINALLY decided to splurge and buy nice clothes when I thought I'd just be fat forever. My timing is always off with everything in my life! Geez!

I am a big clearance shopper and have found a lot of good deals at places like Braun's or CJ Banks....t-shirts for 2 dollars pants for 3....you have to go to the back of the store and sometimes you have to dig through sizes because one size can be more or less than another!! I bought 5 outfits for 23 dollars--pants, skirts, jackets and shirts!!! They were VERY nice clothes for church or work! Hope this helps!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
