I had my post op appointment yesterday and I feel soooo much better about myself. I was really having a rough time last week with the whole mental eating. Talking with the nurse made me feel great and a big weight was lifted off my shoulder. I've been drinking my Protein shakes, bought some bars and I can now have tuna. For now on it's ONLY Protein for me!

Also, I joined Curves today and will begin working out at lunchtime Monday-Friday. That's going to help keep my mind off food as well. :whoo:

Just wanted to let you all know that I am feeling much better and I am not going to let bad foods try to take control again!!!

Vanessa,

You have a great attitude. Good for you for starting to work out. I agree that it will help considerably.

Thanks great, Vanessa! It sounds like you're going to give yourself a chance to learn and you deserve that!

Today is my first day on mushies and I have to say I'm enjoying them. But in small quantities as I've noticed I feel satisfied more quickly.

Vanessa I can't wait to get back to working out. I am just walking now and I want back in the Water so bad I can taste it. I just don't feel like I am doing enough I guess. I have always been my wors critic...LOL

I am thrilled for you that you are able to work out on your lunch though. That would be really nice. I usually go right after work.

Good luck and let me know how the workouts feel on your port site..

What a great attitude! I feel the same way - not to let bad foods take control again. Have fun at Curves! I can hardly wait to get exercising.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
