3 days post op! How is everyones recovery journey? Have a little discomfort when eating but I think thats normal at this stage. Worried about how little Water I am drinking, sipping all day but hardly getting more than 2 glasses. Should I be concerned?

My surgeon encouraged me to drink as much as I could, but said the first week or 2 that’s really normal. Our stomach tissue is very swollen after surgery. Less than 20 oz will lead to quick dehydration. I just was home watching tv the first week. So every time a commercial came on I would make myself sip. Set a timer if you have to. It does get easier each day, the first few are the roughest. You’ve got this!! I’m finally to purées and it feels like heaven after liquid for so long. Hang in there!

How many steps is everyone getting? I’m post up day 3 and hitting about 3000 but I’m worried that’s not enough? I keep up every hours and walk around.

The Fluid intake seems to be the hardest. I am essentially doing the fluid challenge I had to do at the hospital 1/2 cup (4oz) an hour. It is hard but it has gotten a little easier with consistency. You can do this, just keep the bottle, cup, etc in your hand and remember 3 sips every 15 minutes should do the trick

I had surgery 4/15. For the first few days, after laps at the hospital, I only got about 1800-2000 steps a day. It was a week out before I hit 3000, and now I’m over 5000 steps. I’m actually dedicating 2x’s a day to walk my block outside- which is 1/2 mile. My doctor expects 2 mile walks by 6 weeks out. Sounds like your doing fabulous.

Thank you for the response! I didn’t ask or get any direction about it except do as much as you can! Pretty vague. :) I’ll keep it up and add more each day.

Yeah there seems to be a little difference in aftercare advice in the UK compared to the US stories, so its been really great hearing what aftercare advice you have been given and I've tried to implement it too, as no mention of number of steps but advice to start walking. Same advice, just a little less specific I guess on certain measurements.

I saw this article today about someone that had a sleeve done and it made me feel motivated so thought I would share incase anyone else needs a little pick me up :): https://www.upworthy.com/this-woman-is-brutally-honest-about-what-it-looks-like-to-lose-100-plus-pounds-twice?c=aah&fbclid=IwAR3p5X6NnMwJGoL809ecPZ0epFAp1qoxI-wIlCanDyIOt-d-xfZckL2qY-U

Has anyone else had issues with diarrhea? I can’t keep anything in my body longer than a couple hours. 80% of the day I feel fine, but after I eat I get cramps and diarrhea. It’s not dumping, no rapid heart rate or sweating. But I feel like I have the flu.

Yes I had surgery on 22nd and yesterday and today I have diarrhea...it sucks. As soon as I get some Protein Shake down I'm off to the bathroom

You guys are lucky in a way, I tend towards Constipation. I would check and make sure you haven't developed a lactose intolerance or to one of the other ingredients. It really happens frequently, and that is one of your body's defense mechanisms, rush the offending item down the gastric pathway and OUT!

I had my surgery on Thursday and came home yesterday. The nausea is going away, which is making getting my Water in easier, we went on a little walk , which was lovely. Fingers crossed that this improvement continues.

Had mine on 4/23. Sofar so good. my only issues is the pressure after drinking. The pain is not bad, its more of a dull unpleasant feeling. I am very happy I am not running into alot of the issues others seem to be having with the nausaua or Constipation. I am getting down more then enough Water between water, tea and Soup.

I also find I feel better when up and walking then when sitting.

One question, do your surgeons forbid you from having any pain relief other then acetaminophen ? I know all the programs are different and I am wondering if mine is overly cautious or not

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
