That is phenomenal Johnny !!! And I gotta say, that dog is the cutest thing ever! Again, congrats 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you. I feel great!

That is Carmine the Bulldog. He has his own Facebook & Instagram page. He does pet therapy on the weekends at Long Island Jewish hospital, and here he was lending support to his brother Rocco who is halfway through his pet therapy certification.

Checking in to see how everyone is doing? I am down 38 pounds since 01/24/19 and happy about it. I had a couple of days where I sweets -one was my birthday and the second was while watching a TV drama so I now know to stay away from watching TV dramas with sweet foods around. I get hungry now but the hunger pains are smaller than before and obviously it is easier to ease the hunger. I am consuming 400-600 calories a day. I was exercising quite a bit in the beginning but have slowed down on that end, usually I am pretty tired at the end of the day to do anything. I am getting a bike over the week-end so I can bike to and from work. I am hoping this will get me more active. I know I will need to increase my calories but am struggling to do that mentally. How else is everyone doing?

You're doing awesome! Keep your Protein up. That will keep your energy up and cravings at bay. Keep moving, even if it's only walking.

You should be very proud

Everyone here inspires me. It takes a lot of courage to cast aside old habits, have surgery and make a lifestyle change.

Keep up the good work and don't let anyone insinuate that you took the easy way out. There is nothing easy about the process.

Keep your eye on the prize.... A new, better and healthier you.

So yesterday I made it to onderland! 198.2! I haven't been under 200lbs in a decade! It's all the morning monumental because I know I'll never again be over 200lbs.

I'm supposed to weigh myself weekly but I had to weigh myself today because I had a couple of shots of tequila yesterday night, and gluten-free pizza slice with extra cheese, chicken, and onions that was so good I was worried it was actually laden with carbs. 😂 It was all good though because now I'm sitting pretty at 196.8 but I'm not allowed to record anything until Friday. This month I'm hoping to make it to 180 something but my ticker has a conservative 190.

Hi all, I only just found you guys despite being on here lots. I’m a 21st Jan sleeve. I’m 218. Down 38 from 256 sleeve weight and 45 from 263 highest. Also mid 40s and hormonally challenged with PCOS, and walking 3 times a week, so not fretting too much about rate of loss.

Nice non-sleeve victories with clothes. Bingo wings and apron are keeping me in bigger sizes than I would be otherwise (can take jeans off without undoing them!), but so much more comfy in everything I do wear, especially shoes!

Lately tried hard to do more research on nutrition levels as I struggle to eat enough of the right kinds of things without ramping up carbs and fat. Posted this in food and Nutrition forum: Calories TOO low?

https://www.bariatricpal.com/index.php?/topic/424299-Calories-TOO-low%3F Explains more on why.

Average 650-750, 60 Protein, 60oz Water, 45-65 carbs, 17- 20 fat. Stunning quite how much lean meat and veg you need to hit 1000! All your experiences are great to hear, especially if you have upped calories with same exercise regime and lost more. Find that concept fascinating :-).

I wish I wouldn't of clicked on this, now I am a bit discouraged. Had sleeve done on 1/16 and only lost 23 pounds since surgery date.. everyone else on here has lost 30+, the only thing I can think I did wrong is missing my Water goal some days.. would it really effect it that much?... :(

It's an app called Fitindex the goes with the digital scale I bought on Amazon. I don't believe the app works without the scale. I highly recommend them both! You can pair the app with Fitbit as well.

Have you spoke to the dieticians yet? Have you kept up on Protein? Don’t eat bread or sugar or anything that would stretch stomach. Go back to doing smoothies and protein. Your dietician should help you. Keep the faith.

Awww Mrs. Don’t fret! 23 pounds is still 2 pounds per week. I only lost a half pound this week if that helps. Probably had the lowest cal week ever (that might even be the problem. Calling my nutritionist to sanity check some stuff this week). Best recommendation I can make is to log stuff religiously and have a chat with your nutritionist to get some context. If you started low that’s not necessarily slow and if not and you have stuck to all the advice, they can recommend other things to try if they think weight should be moving faster. We are all different people, but I know comparisons are so hard to resist.

Now is the time to switch things up if needs be :-)

Hi, I had my sleeve done on January 15th. I am now 3 months into the surgery and am at a stall. I have lost 42 lbs but that has stayed for 3 weeks and I cannot seem to lose more weight. I am also struggling with what foods to eat to get my Protein. I had a set back with pneumonia for 3 weeks so finding the right foods to eat have been a challenge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Starting back up on exercise and hopefully get the cardio going again. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
