This is a great thread. I was banded on 11/12/07 (3 days ago). The first night, I kept wondering what the heck I had done to my body. All the people in the hospitol were there because the HAD to be, and I was doing something ELECTIVELY - cutting into a perfectly fine (if fat) body that had no major problems. Why was I too weak to do it on my own? How was I going to live with this "thing" inside me?

These feelings were unexpected and overwhelming. I am happy to hear that so many other people have felt the same way and that it passes in time. I thnk it must be something like post partum depression. Two days later and I feel much better about my decision. But, truly, I was overwhelmed by those unexpected thoughts. For those of you who are soon to be banded, be prepared for the post surgery doubt and know you can get through it!

Putty thank you soo much for posting this thread. I felt like an idiot for having second thoughts. Everyone kept saying how great it was and I was like "Why don't I feel that way?". I actually had to go back on my anti-anxiety meds, I got myself so wound up. As time goes on I feel better. It's just getting used to all these new sensations, and knowing that alot of the time "It's just gas!" I still am a little scared, but that is something I am dealing with with help. But it makes me feel good to know I am not alone.

My surgery is done!! So far the worst part is soreness in the abdomen and I'M HUNGRY on this clear liquid diet. Oh well, just one more day and I can go to full liquids!

Renee,

I lost the first week, but the second week, nothing. How can you not lose weight on a little juice and Water? ? I decided that I wasn't getting enough calories, so for week three I have bumped up the calories, and what do you know, over 2 pounds lost since increasing caloric intake!

Patty,

I had my first post-op visit today. The doctor told me the same thing about bumping up the calories a bit. Thanks for the heads up!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
