I am feeling the same way as you, mine is on the 11th. You aren't alone. I just try to keep myself busy and my mind off it but that's easier said then done. Just keep positive and focused on the reason you're doing it in the first place, that's the goal, the surgery is just one of the steps to getting there. Best wishes.

We are all in this together next month! It's normal to be anxious. I keep reminding me that it is a common surgery and people DO get through it. We are here to support each other!

I am also allowed to have jell-o and popsicles. I am planning to stop at the grocery store after work to pick some up. Do you have any recommendations on what kind to get?

I got Bordan's tropical flavored sf popsicles yesterday and tried one; they were pretty good.

I got insurance approval!!!!! Surgery will be in about 2 weeks (waiting for the scheduler to contact me). I was convinced that insurance wouldn't approve me but they did. So now my emotions are all over the place. Excited but looking forward to getting into March when I would be healed. Guilty that something could go wrong and I am doing this when I don't "have" to. Guilty that I didn't try harder at yet another diet. Worried that I won't lose as much as I should or maintain the weight loss.

How is everyone preparing? Do you already have your Vitamins purchased? I go to a preop diet meeting that is 1 week before surgery so I won't have a lot of time to get what I need. I know I will not be required to do any preop diet so I am just worried about the after surgery stuff.

Hey 2Bsmaller18! I read through some of your previous posts, and we seem to have a lot in common! I started at a BMI of 36, comorbidity of sleep apnea, and will be having vsg on 2/13/18. My doctor prescribed FusionPlus Iron a few months ago, and I’m also taking Centrum Silver as my Multivitamin, nascobal B12 nasal spray once a week, Vitamin D3, and Calcium. I also started taking 6000 mcg of Biotin nightly a few months ago to help reduce Hair loss post-op.

I had my final pre op appointment on Wednesday. Surgery is just 4 days away! The night before surgery I have to drink 30oz of either apple or grape juice or regular Gatorade. I have to do another 15 oz over 10 minutes 2-3 hours before surgery. This is to help the body regulate blood sugar better and not have highs and lows while the body is dealing with the surgical trauma. I also got a bottle of chlorhexadine to bathe with the night before and morning of surgery. Cuz you know, infection is no bueno! I already have my Vitamins in my big ole dispenser. I have my liquids for after surgery. I think I’m ready.

2B, I have all the same fears as you. I keep thinking that this is voluntary, and if anything goes wrong I have nobody to blame but myself.

2B--I recently read an article that said that in some cases, it is better to have bariatric surgery before morbid obesity to avoid having the problems so many of us have with high cholesterol, diabetes, knee and back pain, etc. I am sure your insurance would not have approved it if it wasn't in the interest of your health. And we all know going through surgery and having to work super hard afterward isn't something one does just for the heck of trying a new weight-loss strategy. We have a long road ahead of us and feeling guilty should not be one of the emotions you need to deal with through it all. Take heart!

As for Vitamins, I ordered Celebrate multichews and I really like the Iron + C pineapple ones. The lemon calcium citrate are also pretty good. I am not a fan of the orange-flavored Celebrate multivitimin so I'm looking for a better one. I'm going to try black grape of a different brand. Of all the ones I've tried, I liked the soft chews better than the chewable tablets.

It's FEBRUARY today. It's our month! I've been trying to map everyone's surgery dates but lost track. I know two of you share my surgery date on February 13. For those of you on your pre-op diet, hang in there! I start all clears on Sunday. I spent an hour walking through the aisles of Wegman's (a local grocery store) today looking for interesting things to have at home. My cart was full on very boring items! I am trying a variety of flavored waters, Mio drops, Crystal Light Energy (for must-have caffeine), Jell-O, and Protein Shakes. My nutritionist said I could strain regular Soups (ex: Progresso) so I'll do that since I'll be saving the Unjury chicken broth until after surgery. Who's up first for surgery this month?

Idawn--I have never heard of taking in so much sugar before surgery. Then again, I have Type 1 diabetes so that would be one of the worst things for me to take. My blood sugar would shoot up to 300+. I continue to be fascinated by how different the pre-op requirements are for surgery. Among our February group alone the variances are amazing. Is your surgery on Sunday?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
