Dec 17 Surgery two weeks only liquid

Im having my surgery in a week and two days im nervous. This liquid diet is challenging. My family is clearly not changing their eating habits. So its hard to sip chalk shakes and watery soup on robard. The cinnamon bars are the best. Im just ready ready ready. Im 282.3 as of today.

Thanks, I guess I'm ready. The nervous feeling seems to ramp up the closer I get to the 17th. It will be nice once I'm post-op

How you doing

Wow they told me my liver didn’t shrink either. They didn’t mention a special device but I’m in a ton of pain. Luckily I haven’t had a issue with keeping stuff down but every time I drink water my stomach cramps up really bad. I am shocked my liver didn’t shrink because I was so strict with my pre op diet.

Yea they use a special device to lift it. I can stand up straight. It hurts to walk amd sleeping is hard. Im so tired of it. Im on gabapentin and a oxycodein syrup. Which help a little. But i cant do broth or popsicles or jello it all taste very weird to me. I can only do water & crystal light

Make sure when u drink u are sitting up or stamding. And force yaself to burp

Yeah I’ve been noticing water taste strange now. They sent me home with OxyContin tablets. I wish it was liquid. Oh yeah and sleeping is so hard! My dad has had this procedure and he keeps reassuring me after the first week it gets way easier. Oh and I will definitely try drinking while standing.

Crush up the Oxy and put it in some yogurt or applesauce. They gave me a gigantic horsepill of Potassium post-op and said I had to either break it into fourths to take it or crush it and put it in applesauce. They gave me Percs and I only took like 2 or 3 of them. Just had muscle pains and I found pain meds don't help with that.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to try the applesauce trick, it hurts to take the pills. I’m glad I’m not the only one having a lot of pain. It seems like some people recover really fast

How you doing

I'm doing better as the days progress. I keep forgetting to sip then get the chest pain. I'm selling a simi truck at work and I've been doing some running around getting it prepared but don't feel like I'm overdoing it. How are you doing?

Yeah I’m still in recovery mode, I haven’t been cooking or cleaning or back to work. I can hardly stand up straight.

I can get around without much problem. I think it's because they didn't have to do the hiatal hernia repair. That causes the tight feeling when getting up. Did you have that?
