VSG + Alopecia sucks... so I buzzed it

Recommended Posts

I know there are a million posts about Hair loss on here but I’m adding one more. Because I can.

So I’ve haid super thin hair for years since I have Alopecia. I wear wigs most of the time. But this weekend my Hair loss kicked itself into overdrive. Below is a picture of me 2 years ago (before starting to wear wigs) and a picture of my decision to just accept my hair loss and make it my own! I’ll eventually go to a barber and have them clean it up but whatever I love how easy it is! Also a picture of me in my wig because damn I’ve lost HALF my face!

Also... ran my first 5k this AM ❤️ loving my life right now.

Congrats on your 5K! Get out and have adventure in life. Feels fantastic , right? New face and a new look . You can't even tell that you are rocking a wig. You pull off both looks well.

Ditch the wig, get that buzzed down to an even closer cut and just rock the hell out of it!

I will! I want to go to the barbers and have them do it. The pic above was my husband doing it and my hair still looks like different lengths. He did it a 5, I’m thinking a 3 might be better?

Your beautiful both with and without hair. The buzzed look agrees with you.

Thank you! I didn’t expect to like the buzzed look as much as I do. Once I get it cleaned up, I think I’ll wear it out a lot more!

Honestly... I wouldn't go to a dresser/barber, just cut that down to a 0 or 1 and you'll be good to go, no need to spend 10-15 dollars to have someone do a 1 level buzz and an edge trim.

You look great either way, it’s nice to have that versatility also and you are so positive about it. Beautiful! 😍

As someone who will likely shave their head and wear a wig (I don't think I have alopecia, but my hair reacts badly to weight loss) after the surgery, this makes me heart swell so much with love and reassurance! When I told my husband that I was scared to lose my hair (as a possible reason why not to have the surgery) he said I was the silliest creature alive. He told me to shave it and wear some sexy wigs!

You look absolutely gorgeous, with or without the wig. ❤️

I think you look FAB either way, but I am going to comment that the bottom photo makes you look like you are 18 years old! I'm envious! And congratulations on your weight loss and the 5k! Hugs to you! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
