Au contraire, mon ami! My liquid diet is 8 days prior to surgery - mostly milk and yogurt and clears, then clears only 24 hours before. I might be ready to perish at that point!

Ouch... that is kind of rough :( But... the additional weight loss will be a bonus!!

Does anyone know how I can get my rings off of my fat fingers??? I am pretty sure I have to take them off for surgery. They have been on for almost 30 years and getting them off is going to be a chore. Thoughts?? Thanks!!

The nurses at the hospital helped take my grandmothers jewelry off of her before surgery, but they unfortunately had to cut her bangles off. I would try to attend YouTube University for some tips and tricks to see if you can get them off beforehand so you don’t have the same experience!

Good idea.... Thanks!

I'm an ICU nurse, and have taken many a ring off. I use an elastic band (from a airborne mask) and use that method to get them off. http://www.assh.org/handcare/Conditions-and-Injuries/Hand-Safety/Removing-a-Ring

It's going to hurt, but it's really the only way to get rings off if your hands are swollen short of cutting them off.

Did mine an entire month, August, lost 15 pounds. That's the high function autie in me, when I committ I do so with a ferciousity. Nothing distracts an autie when we are centered. At any rate, my liver decreased approx 15% from its high NASH-hood, easier for Dr Needleman, my surgeon and much easier on me. FYI your liver decreases 2.4% for every week of liver-shrinking diet, and yes it is a Royal pain in the tookus!

My surgery is 12/3 and nobody has told me about any pre-op/liquid diet. I’m starting to worry I may have missed the memo!

I have my last nutrition visit 11/19, maybe I hear then? But I did just call the docs office and left a message to check.

Every program is different. Mine makes you come to 3 informational classes while you're doing all of your other legwork. (Psych evals, upper GIs etc) By my Pre-Op day we're expected to be very well informed.

Some nuts, some surgeon's don't believe in those. They believe a low cal low carb diet, eating healthily prior to surgery is more important. You may have booked with one of that variety, if not they will let you know well ahead of time! Don't sweat the small stuff, as you get older most everything does turn into small stuff!

I had 6 months of pre-op check in’s but they were all with the nutritionist, basically prepping you for post-op. But I do have a FINAL nutritionist visit next Monday which is 2 hours long. I know we do get pre-op soap at that class. So I’m sure that is where I will find out about pre-op diet.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
