YOU BET I EAT IT - just finished a whole bag of kettle corn. I have no clue what my doc would say, never asked.....here is the plus about popcorn, nothing else stays down right now, not food, not mushies, not fluids, but popcorn does!.....and now for the minus I can and do eat a full microwave bag when I do eat it, that seems like a lot to me given that I couldn't eat large portions of anything else even b4 I started having this current issue of throwing up

Boy, you must eat a LOT of popcorn in America for a doctor to hold this opinion - I mean surely white bread is the root of all evil, lol?

Seriously, how much popcorn would you have to eat to say its a leading cause of bowel disease?

I eat it occasionally, I've never been a "every time I go to the movies I MUST have popcorn" person, but sometimes I do. And sometimes we airpop some popcorn at home, once in a blue moon.

Popcorn just isnt that popular here that many people would eat it more than a couple of times a year.

That's been my experience too (also DownUnder). I don't go to the movies much and only occasionally get popcorn when I do (now Maltesers and Jaffas are a different story!! hahahah!) Actually, in the past, I would eat popcorn most often when dieting as I was always told air-popped corn was an excellent low fat, low calorie snack, with lots of fibre, etc.

I love popcorn and eat it. One time, I think I must have gotten one of those hard shells stuck or something and I had trouble, but I have good luck with crunchy things like that... Just eat it in moderation and slowly.

Oh, I am soooo glad you brought this up. I'm not a popcorn fanatic or anything, but when I smell it at work when someone microwaves a bag or when I smell it at the moves, I begin salivating. However, due to the band, I've been kind of afraid to enjoy a little. Another thing, popcorn is a quality carb, and is high is Fiber and low in calories (that is if you don't eat the whole darn bag and/or pop it in oil and/or drizzel it with caramel and/or sprinkle butter flavored stuff on it)....LOL

I've only avoided it because of the kernels and fear of them 'scratching' the inside of my pouch.

Now that I know other banders have enjoyed a little, I'm going out and buying some low fat/low cal popcorn! Yeeehaww

Banster Rules: Protein first, veggies then fruit. NOTHNG white. This is what my doctor gave me at the very first meeting.

Now, that having been said....yes, I eat popcorn, it doesn't bother the band at all. And I drink milk.

A calorie is a calorie, no matter how you look at it.

Make the choices that are right for you.

Yes, I eat it... Can't eat much, but it sure is delicious...

Katy's Bandster Rule #1: Throw out the rule book. Once you have proper restriction, eat what you want. I do. And I feel no deprivation and continue to lose... cause I only eat a tiny bit.

I absolutey love movie theater popcorn!!! Haven't had it much because I just don't crave it the same, but still have it ocassionally. The main culprit to avoid by my Dr. was soda and white breads and sugar.

Actually, I'm not sure if my doctor agrees or not about popcorn. But it makes a great snack that satisfies my desire for something that crunches.

I found some 100 calorie packs for the microwave and keep them in my desk at work to enjoy on break. No leftovers or having to wait forever on the microwave.

I love popcorn and yes I have it every now and then. I don't know if my doctor approves because we never really talked about, but when I go back I will surely ask him.

Never again! I had six pieces at the movies yesterday, chewed very well, and I burped popcorn all night and it's nearly noon the next day and I'm still having popcorn. I had a feeling when I ate it yesterday, that I might have a problem as I seem to be on a "problem eating " kick. Oh, well, experience is the best teacher.:)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
