It's almost that time again!

THE FALL (or Autumn to be less ominous)

pumpkin Spice carb traps and Maple Syrup deviations from plan will be everywhere.

and UGGs but let's not go there...

I wanted to add a thread where everyone can leave concerns, questions, tips, gripes, recipes, suggestions, observations, etc. about just this one season that seems to rotate around food

How do you plan to make it successfully work in your favor? Share with us!

Complaint:

I can't seem to find pumpkin spice sugar free syrups, they know how popular the flavor is, why isn't available sugar free?

Suggestion:

I think I'll dabble with making my own 😓

OMG, I literally just posted about a nasty pumpkin Spice Yogurt I tried today. Anyway, I'm a summertime person, so the beginning of autumn feels like the end of my fun. To top it off I'm in Oregon so it's also the start of the 8 months of clouds/rain/no sun. Comfort food is how I usually get through. I have winter restaurants that are cozy, comfort food places with fireplaces that I only go to in the winter. That food is not going to work for my pouch this winter.

So, I'm thinking of trying to find the coziness without the comfort food. My husband and I love to camp in the fall and winter - everything feels cozy and tastes great when you're bundled up under a canopy in the rain eating things roasted over the campfire and drinking hot beverages - so that will definitely work. But for your average day, I'm going to start mixing in some hiking in the woods for my exercise (we don't mind getting wet in Oregon). I really think that a shower, a hot drink and climbing under a blanket with my kids after a cold, wet hike will be the Ultimate in cozy comfort!

I usually find them easily at the local restaurant supply grocery store. ie: Cash & Carry, Smart & Final or Smart Foodservice Warehouse They have Toriani and Monin brand in sugar free pumpkin spice as well as about 30 other flavors. Hopefully you can track one down near you. I bet homemade will taste amazing.

I'm going to keep searching first but in my area no sugar free, and I dislike ordering food online

I plan to enjoy the holiday events and not restrict and deprive myself at them. I'll just make sure the rest of the time I am eating healthfully (well.. you know).

I'll only choose the items I absolutely love, not eat stuff just because it's there. (Hello stuffing, goodbye pumpkin pie).

I won't graze on apps, I'll wait for the main meal (except poke and ceviche, will gobble those up)

I'll not take left overs (unless it's lean meats).

I'll not keep holiday foods around the house (gonna miss you candy cane kisses!)

I'll enjoy a glass of wine with dinner (but not 3 beers before hand)

I've done it before but sometimes things would come damaged and I have to put in a claim, yada yada yada...

I'd rather see it in my hands

Lol, you and I are opposites in this regard!

(But I have a sugar-free high-protein pumpkin custard recipe, and it's not bad.)

Also, @GreenTealael, I ordered a bunch of sugar-free Torani syrups (including pumpkin spice!) directly from Torani, and I was so impressed with the packaging they used! It was really, really good. (Less impressive if there isn't cardboard recycling in your area, but we have it here, so it was great.) I mean, I don't want to pressure you. But if the need gets real enough... 😁

I'll be drinking a lot of hot tea. And baked apples aren't a bad choice if you don't go adding lots of sugar and butter.

Do you have a World Market near you? Ours usually has a great selection of the syrups.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
