4 months post op--disney??

Recommended Posts

I am going to disney for the second time with my boyfriend of 5 years and 18 of his family members. We take a vacation every year and i am the only one not blood related or married into the family. My surgery is scheduled for november 5th pending insurance approval... will i be able to do Disney cruise for 3 nights and then to Disney for 3 days mid March, without slowing anyone down, or being sick, or not able to do certain things? I cant be the only non blood relative and be a burden or a pain. Its causing me a lot of anxiety about the surgery.

Its just scary to think about. His grandparents paid for the cruise, his parents the airfare. I just dont want to ruin anyones vacation. Including my own. I mean its Disney! But what other choice do I have. I guess im just looking for other sleevers 4 months post op experiences.

My best guess is that you will be fine. You won't be able to eat as much but you will be able to enjoy the yummy Disney goodness. I hope to go on a Disney cruise again one day.

Its booked thats why im so scared! No going back now even if the day before i am not doing so well. I cant do that to his family being the only non blood or marriage relative. Putting a lot of pressure on my recovery but I guess all i can do is follow the instructions to the letter and hope for the best... i am still on the fence as to whether i will even get the surgery once i get the call to see if insurance approved me or not... but deep down i think ive already decided to. Just scared to say definitively yet.

My surgery was perfection, not a single complication, i lost about 45-50lbs so now I had increased energy, always took Vitamins, exceed my hydration goals, met my Protein goals..

I planned my vacation before I thought about surgery, so at 4 months post op I met with my NUT to discuss the plan for my vacation eating, etc. Because I knew there would be things off plan I wanted. They worked with me. It was great, no problems whatsoever.

Keep your team in the loop, focus on great healing prior and you should be ok.

Thats awesome thank you. They also bought the food package that includes 1 alcoholic drink. Im curious as to whether i will even be allowed to drink it. I know someone who got a bypass and she gets drunk off 2 drinks, so i know if i do drink not to have more than 1. But can i even have 1, 4.5 months post op? Or is that different for everyone too?

It's totally individualized results...

I don't consume alcohol so I can't help you there

Generally you'll want to follow your post surgical plan to the letter and discuss any modifications to it with your team, but really wait until after surgery to consider the all of the details...

I was. Big surgery - a bypass, and via open surgery (cut from rib center to belly button) not keyhole.

After four months this would have been a breeze, so barring complications it should be for you too. Both post-surgery irritations, but also your new eating style will be pretty settled by then... and you’ll deserve a vacation! And you’ll be thinner, healthier!!

Yeah i am going to tell him about my vacation at the meeting before the surgery and see what he has to say about it. Id rather be prepared to have a tough time and know the worst case scenarios.

My surgery was on a Tuesday. I checked out of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, by the time all the paperwork was done. I would have gone to work on Thursday, but was a little worried about adverse reactions (vomiting, mostly, but that never happened). So I spent all day Thursday driving around to run errands and then re-planting bushes and shrubs in my yard that afternoon. Went to work on Friday and had a great day. Sitting for long periods was uncomfortable, but it was fine, all in all.

Except for my throat being a bit sore from the intubation, it was like the surgery never happened.

So it all depends on your pain threshold, physical condition before the operation, how well you heal, and of course, the quality of your surgeon.

You'll be surprised how great you feel afterward. For me, anyway, it was a piece of cake.

Assume you'll be able to go. If you can't do it, you can always bail right before you're supposed to leave. But make the plans and prepare for the best case.

You'll be fine...and you'll be feeling so good about your new life and body, you'll have a fabulous time.

I had surgery on 5/2 and went to Hawaii for 12 days on 6/29 with my fiancé’s whole family... no one even knew I’d had the surgery, I felt fine, and swam and hiked just fine. No one can tell you what to expect from your own body and recovery, but I think you’ll be totally fine :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
