For dinner, could you add a small 1/4 cup of salad with homemade blue cheese dressing? That adds another 140-180 cals.

Holy cow, Fluff! How much Salad Dressing can you put on 1/4 cup of salad?

Oof. Yeah, I’m eating probably half again what you are and that’s eating when I’m NOT hungry but am in the non-fasting zone.

This is not an easy balance. Factors involved: capacity, hunger, protein’s ability to stave off hunger while making you feel full, then add the IF timeframe. Today I deliberately upped carbs so I wouldn’t feel like I was overeating (protein+time) if I ate more during the 8 hours. Realistically, if I want to get in spinach, I HAVE to cut down on IF Protein because otherwise there’s just not enough time.

Would it be better to do the whole-day IF schedule, the 5/2 or whatever?

Congrats on figuring out the weight fluctuation!! Woohooo on shark week! (NOT) LOL.

It is NOT an easy balance at all! The time frame does make it more difficult to be sure! I'm toying with the idea of doing 5:2. If things don't start feeling easier with the 16:8 where I'm SURE I'm getting in all the food I need without overeating, I may look at 5:2. But the thing with 5:2 is that 2 of the days your cals need to be 500 or under. And it's still really difficult to get all your nutrient needs met on 500cals. It can be done, but it's still difficult. For peeps with little tummies, it's better cuz you can eat your 6 small meals. But you still have to maneuver how to fill the tool with the best most nutrient dense, calorically lite food on earth. LOL. Ugh!

Well you could have it look like this which is about 3/4cup of salad unless you mush it down really well, then it "could" make about 1/2cup.

That's a hefty little caloric salad. :)

That's not a salad, it's a fat bomb! Why don't you sprinkle on a few walnuts while you're at it? 😂

Then she might get accused of being "nuts" with the walnuts.

Yes. You are absolutely correct. But. In a world where we have to keep the quantities low, you have 2 options to increase calories. :) You can either add carbs (which kitty loves) or fat (which kitty also loves). But the recipe of death is to add them at the same time.

So if it was me trying to increase my calories to maintain when I can't increase my food (or at least shouldn't). I would choose to add fat to my meal cuz it's so calorically dense (and nutritionally dense) and has the smaller impact on my blood sugar and insulin over time. LOL. Hence the fat bomb salad. But hey, it will get those calories in. And btw, walnuts would be perfect on that salad and would add very heart healthy Omega threes as well as more calories. :) Good call!

Oh trust me, I'm not the cracked nut in this conversation. And I said it before, will say it again...if you don't post pics, you don't exist and at this point...I'm thinking you are probably just a BP zombie out to eat our brains (oddly enough...ALSO fat bombs). :)

(and continual props to @GreenTealael for teaching me the importance of "if no pics it didn't happen" concept! Woot!)

Teach me how to "paper-clip pix" into a Bariatric Pal submission from an Android phone cause I have nary a clue. I finally sent one to Orchids and Dragons to prove I exist, that's through e-mail, I know how that is done.

Cross posting from the B/A food thread.

No IF for me today--just straight up Atkins Induction. I woke up like a hungry heifer and wanted Sunday Breakfast. I grabbed leftovers from dinner last night. I wasn't "hatin". #embracetheleftovers

No afters on account of the clean plate club.

Oooh, I like your plates!

I went out for brunch like a grown-ass single adult and had half a modest croque madam and maybe three slices of potato and I am FULL. It was delightful but relatively heavy and now I’m going to take a nap while my robot vacuum chases my dog around the house.

I love Sundays. Well, Sunday mornings.

Sooooo.... does IF change the smell of your perspiration? Because I am not usually smelly but over the past day or two, I’ve noted a very sharp smell. I haven’t been doing any wild exercise, some of this is just me in the morning getting out of bed. It’s not unmanageable, but...eh?

Maybe, you will begin to break down fats exclusively...kind of like how people may smell differently while in ketogenesis I'll look into it and get back to you.

Yep! Ketosis BO, but it will get better. It's something like acetoacetoacetate (sharp pungent smell)--a byproduct of fat breakdown that causes it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
