First fill and not hungrey AT ALL

Recommended Posts

I just had my first fill on November 5th and I am on liquids until tomorrow. For some reason...not only do I not want to drink a protien shake I barely want to drink Water...I am not sick or anything...I jsut have NO desire for food or anything to go in my mouth...I am not even head hungry.

Anyone ever experience this???

Yes, this is one of the byproducts of having good restriction. It is quite common to lose your hunger. In fact, if you lose your hunger and can eat below 1 cup of food and still lose that may be your sweet spot. Good luck.

Hey you two that just got your fills: I get mine a week from Friday. Please tell me, was there any pain?

I've read where they numb the port area first, but then I've also read where they just shoot the needle in.

O-o-o-o-o, I'm getting sick and scared already! I KNOW I have to do it, but the first time is super scary!

How did you two do?? :)

Mine was a breeze.

He gave me a small needle with numbing stuff first. There was a little burning as it went in.

After that, I didn't feel anything. He put the long needle in, showed me what he was doing, and then I drank some Water.

Thanks for the info, Candle--you've alleviated my fears somewhat!

Hey Ms NYC, I sure hope I feel like you after the fill--it sure seems like yours was a successful one! :bounce:

Mine was sooooo painless I swear I don't think the doctor did anything. I keep asking "is that all???" "Do you know what your doing? " I am from NYC so I am naturally skeptical :-)

I have ABSOLUTLY no tollerance for pain and it didn't even hurt as much as a regular shot with a butterfly needle. Acually the needle he used was sooo thinl that I could barely see it and I didn't even bleed. He didn't nub me.....nothing...he asked me to layback...he felt for the port with his fingers and within seconds he was done...AMAZING!!! I had to drink a bottle of Water before I could leave...I brought a 20 oz next time I am bring a 8oz...so I can leave sooner.

Oh I have a 4cc band and he put in 1.2 cc's.

modspace, what you are experiencing is completely normal. Hunger does return as does the volumne when you don't have fills. It may take you several before you have restriction.

Julie, thank you I feel much better now, but out of curiosity would you know what the symptoms are when a band dislodges or flips

From what I understand there is quite a bit of vomitting and or more restriction if you have a slip. What you are experiencing is normal when you don't have a fill. Nothing has changed since your preop. You may still be able to eat a full size meal. I can only eat 1/4 cup at the max with good restriction. Therein lies the difference. Good luck.

Try and count calories. When you have good restriction you should only be consuming 800-1k calories a day. If you can still lose on 1200 stick to that. Also, try and limit your meals to 1 cup size of food. Good luck.

I was banded on Oct 9th.. And I have lost 15lbs between the preop liquid diet and now. I'm just not starting to eat more, and not feeling the restriction I had from surgery. I haven't lost any more weight.. Which surprises me, considering I am eating a lot less then I was before. I go for my 1st fill the day before Thanksgiving. -laughs- Cruel, I tell ya.. But I'm looking forward to it. I need to start losing before I start getting depressed. -s-

I here you Lori it seems like the fill can't happen quick enough for me, I actually enjoyed the restricted feeling I had post surgery, I know that sounds weird but I was not hungry and mentally I was ready, now I feel like I have gone backwards in a sense.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
