I feel like I am able to eat well over a cup of food in one setting. In fact I know I can because I just ate a cup of chili and then had a few crackers on the side and still didn't feel full! I'm about 4 months postop. Is this normal?

Some foods are easier to eat larger amounts of, usually they are softer in texture, some people (me) lovingly call them sliders .

Not a big deal when its Protein based and you need the macros, a much bigger deal when the foods hold little to no nutritional value for your current lifestyle (crackers-no judgment I promise).

To help with this you can eat only the recommended size (1/4-1/2 cup), watch out for these sliders and make sure you are eating for 30 mins or less (part of the 30/30/30 rule) because the stomach does eventually empty (it can happen while you are eating)

Eating for longer periods means you'll be replacing cals too quickly and runs the risk of grazing (which means higher cal consumption effectively canceling out the effects of the surgery)

Check with your team for more clarity

That makes a lot of sense. I've noticed certain foods I can eat a lot of and others I can nibble and be full off of. And don't worry I know crackers are a no no. I just had a moment of weakness. We all have those every now and then :) . I didn't know it could empty out so fast... That might be what my problem is. I tend to start eating then forget about it and pick up where I left off. Thanks for the advice.

Check in with your team and ask them to explain the mechanics again, always helpful to hear it from the pros

I do find I am able to eat more Soup and say salad rather than a denser start of 4 oz of just Protein. If I eat 4 oz of meat I will be full but I am always able to eat more than 4oz of chili or soup. I don’t stress over it as I make my own Soups and they are high in protein and low in carbs. I don’t stress over eating more salad because sometimes my body needs the vegetables and I get sick of meat all the time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
