3 month follow up today

Recommended Posts

Well everything is looking good after my 3 month follow up appointment today with the exception of one thing. I’ve been 5-8 my entire adult life & somehow I mysteriously shrunk an in which in turn brought up my BMI. I’ve been eating healthy & working hard at the gym. I was pleasantly surprised at how this showed in my vitals which have been terrible in the past. I’ve still got 100 pounds to lose so there’s still plenty to do but I cannot be more pleased with the way things have gone so far. My plates contain a piece of meat/protein accompanied by fruits & veggies. There’s no reason to shop for anything else. My blood work was great with the exception of low Vitamin D. Onward I go! Slow & steady wins the race.

My height is actually 5-8 so my BMI is 41.8

That paper looks familiar! Did you have your surgery at Swedish Seattle? I had mine there!

Nope I had it done at Deaconess hospital in Spokane.

@Seahawks Fan , wish my doctors would let me be 5ft9in, only hope I'm having of my BMI dropping quickly. Even started 1-2 Protein Shakes instead of meals to see if this flesh would melt. Tired of being the Fluffiest "ewe" in the Bariatric flock of Lambs.😜

And also, you know I always think of something after I post, many of us are Vitamin D deficiency-cursed
1. increased age(dang it!)
2. poor diet, although most milks are now vitamin-enriched as are many (spit spit) processed foods.
3. and probably the most likely, we don't get enough natural sunlight to,process our own. Alas I am a fair-skinned redhead, which do I desire more-skin cancer or Vitamin D deficiency. As the late Jach Benny said in a comedy skit:
Your money or your life, Mr Benny, which will it be?
Jack Benny: I'm thinking, I'm thinking!
Have a dose of Pacific Ocean Peace 'my friend!😝

You are an inspiration sir. Congrats keeping up the hard work and Congrats on the results!!!

Who actually measured height anymore, I havn't had it measured probably since highschool. I should have lied all these years and given myself a few extra inches. Does BMI count for anything anyway? I was told I was overwieght in my late teens when I was muscular and fit AF, think I was 14% body fat at the time. Never respected that chart since.

anyway , good on you bro. Again CONGRATS!!!

Protein in shakes is better than bars which are just candy with added protein but the shakes are absorbed so much faster than a piece of meat. It takes longer to break down meat so your body might absorb more protein. A shake will go right through you & protein may not be absorbed & discarded as waste.

I am Vitamin D deficient after my 3 month follow up yesterday so I’m taking 4000 mg a day.

Hey thanks so much for the compliments. No actually the BMI scale is aged way back & was actually made by insurance companies (imagine that) of course being class 2 or 3 obese is above the top for almost anyone. I’m aiming for normal range but again it really isn’t an accurate scale to go by. I would be happy to be in the obese category with my build. Some body builders are considered obese because of their muscle weight so how does that BMI scale work really?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
