I have the Realize Band - the reasons I chose are: newest band, one doctor me and my husband went to for our original consultations ONLY uses it - it is not hard plastic like the Lap Band it is more flexible - it only comes in one size, the port is flatter sort of like the difference between a stack of half dollars as opposed to a stack of quarters - the Realize band does not need stitching in - it has it's own system that sticks out and adheres to the muscle so no stitches - it has less chance of flipping and the band itself has less chance of slippage - it is less restrictive because it is slightly more flexible around the stomach - I did a lot of research on it and chose the Realize Band for reasons above but also you get a Patient ID number that you can go onto RealizeBand.com and register - only people who have had the surgery get one and it has all kinds of great support - a diary, all kinds of things to help.

Wow; thanks for all of the great information!

Is there any way that the "girlie garment" is something made by Spanx? Just a thought.

Oh, I have the same problem. I have had insomnia for years. I take different meds or I would not sleep at all. I usually take Ambien, but since my ins. will only let me have 14 pills per month, I have to take Restoril on the other nights. I got sick of being awake all night and gave in to the drugs.

I never really had it until I hit goal. It has been 6-9 months now no good night sleep! I need to talk to the Dr. The melatonin is no longer working. UGH....I think I am going to go to bed soon and try to go to sleep! :wink2:

Do you ever take a bath before going to bed to try to relax? Also, what about lavendar? That's all the suggestions I have (besides OTC pills!). :-/

My pre-banded ass hates airplane seats. I'm going to Chicago on an EARLY f'n flight and dread it. Call me "bitter, party of one"

Hope it gets better BBK...I feel for ya.

I wish I was going to Chicago. :( That's my home town. It's a great place to visit, just don't want to live there anymore.

I hate it when "experienced bandsters" give crappy advice. :(

Maybe I'm just crazy, but I don't think 1/2 cup of food A DAY is enough. 1/2 cup per meal would be more understandable, but per day....GRRR!

Oh, yeah. Sorry about that.

I'm doing so well with my two sips of Protein Drink per day and nothing else, I just want to tell the whole world! Do what I do folks, IT WORKS!!

Apparently you could up your Protein Shake intake to 1/2 c a day (with nothing else of course) and still be okay. You might as well drink a couple of more sips if it will still work....

I didn't see that thread. Are you sure the "per day" wasn't a typo? Or is this another "sucess" story?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
