I hate it when people post just to post.....

I'll admit, I'll shorten some phrases into acronyms, like "IOW" (in other words) and "IMO" (in my opinion), but I try not to use the ever-annoying "UR" and "R" or "2."

Ugh! Lauren! You're killing me! haha. No, I use IMHO every now and again. Fair enough.

:crying:

Oh, and NMU is: not much, you?

For the most part the abbreviations don't bother me.. but U and UR drive me nuts. I instantly think I'm chatting with a 10 year old, who doesn't know how to spell. FYI, IMO, BTW.. don't really care so much.

Just my 2 cents, because I wanted to post.

I don't mind things like IRL, IMHO, BRB, TTYL, but I have to agree with Laura, every word of every sentence does not need to be abbreviated. My 13 year old niece does that, and it makes me crazy. I've even asked her that if she's going to send me an e-mail or text message, to PLEASE spell out the words, because first off, I can only figure out about half of what she's saying, and also because I need to be reassured that she CAN spell things out IRL, and that she's not going to be hindered IRL down the road getting through college and then landing jobs, and keeping them. It's scary to think that her generation is learning to do this so much so that it's first nature instead of second nature.

Wow, Rant/off.

But, I love those phone commercials, where the kid is speaking in "text" and the mom is like, What? That's not a word!!!

FRIED TRIPE

2 pkgs. beef tripe

4 to 5 eggs

1 tbsp. water

Bread crumbs

Boil tripe for 30 minutes, then drain Water off. Dip into beaten egg, then roll each piece into bread crumbs and fry in hot grease until golden brown. Serve with lemon wedges or Tomato sauce, catsup or chili sauce.

As far as I can tell from this recipe, you are supposed to boil 2 packages of beef tripe for 30 minutes in one tablespoon of water. Must be small "packages" of beef tripe.

I'm sure you'll agree, this sounds good. But then anything fried in hot grease is good.

yummie Marjon .. Thanks That Recipe Sounds Delish! I Will Have To Try It This Weekend. It Looks Kind Of High In Fat Though, Is It Band Friendly? Will It Make My Tickler To Go Higher?

The abbreviations I Like are DD and DH. We can't keep track of everyone's DD or DH's name, but we know who we are talking about.

My DD make me a grandma last night. It was the most beautiful experience!:rolleyes2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
