is that why you dropped off the exercise threads? missed ya!!!

Nah, it just seemed my efforts (although constant) were so pitifully minor compared to the jocks, that it really wasn't worth posting. So, I continue a minimum of 4 days a week doing my stuff at the Y, but just don't post it.

The GOOD thing is refinancing our home will save us about $450 a month, which, after taking into account what I was putting into savings and 401k, will about makes up for what was left over out of my check.

Sometimes work is hardly worth the effort!

the goats are too cute; i can't get them to sit still and get a decent pic ... DHs afraid he'll come home from a business trip & i've invited them into the house...LOL i won't - but it's good to keep him on his toes.!:crying:

I probably would...

Fanny's Outback Update

I've been walking the 5-6km home from site to camp at night lately (coz I'm bored in the gym) and last night spotted this beauty on the road about 3 feet from where we were standing:

snake.jpg

It's a King Brown, about 5-6ft, so not big for that kind of snake, they get up to 10ft.

I HATE snakes....as much as someday I would love to visit Australia, with all the snakes there, I'd probably never leave a car or hotel room for fear that one would jump out and attack me!

PJTP-I had my first semi-public PB today. That was not fun. I know it was stress induced.

Haven't had one of those yet...I'm sure my time will come!

OK, who's coming to Houston on May 2nd for the mini LBT get together?

Wish I could so I could meet you all, but alas, I live a tad distance away! Hope you have a great meeting/party!

Tuesday morning, and more rain. Managed yesterday on 'real foods' without a problem - other than HOLY CRAP I'm not eating much compared to any previous time. I was stuffed at lunch on 2 oz low fat cheese and a yogurt...it took me a half hour to eat that!

Fanny: Thanks but no thanks! I don't mind non-poisonous snakes at all. Actually used to catch them as a kid. But I don't find the poisonous ones quite so cute. :crying:

Beth I am with you on that. My mom was deathly afraid of snakes. Where we lived at we didn't have to worry about poisonous snakes to much. So because of my mom I used to catch gartner snakes and train the dogs to kill them. We lived on a farm so there was a lot of snakes. This way mom would go out without looking constantly for snakes.

Kat I don't think your DN should be giving anyone fills or unfills. She is not a licensed practitioner is she? IMHO if it isn't my Dr. or someone specially trained to do it and not under floro, it isn't going to happen.

I hate bouncing! I am finding out I bounce for 2-3 weeks then even out for about a week and then start bouncing again. Drives me crazy!

Good morning to everyone. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Are you saying you're built like an 11 yr old girl? Sexy....:crying::biggrin::eek::biggrin::biggrin:QUOTE]

i was fully developed at age 9, so 11 is adult in my world - small adult - tho:)

OK, who's coming to Houston on May 2nd for the mini LBT get together?

i'm in - i'll ping you today on FB

A steep descent then a leveling off and slowing down until it gently kisses the gate. I think going too low and then bouncing back would be a problem for me..

the work to stay under 130 is just insane, and i like wine/food a bit too much to give it all up, so i guess i'm where the bod has decided to given my lifestyle w/diet & exercise.

Good morning to everyone. I hope you have a wonderful day.

ditto - suppose to be beautiful out in TX today!

re snakes - i am around all kinds of critters each day. you will hear me from canada if i see one.

ps - hey diva girl!!!!!

PJTP-I had my first semi-public PB today. That was not fun. I know it was stress induced. I was eating lunch when something happened at work that was my fault (thankfully it wasn't as bad as I initially thought). Needess to say, the food that I ate didn't want to go down. I couldn't make it to the bathroom, but thankfully no one was around. How do you deal with stuff like that? That was so odd and embarrassing! I haven't had any other trouble since then, but I moved my fill out a few days just in case.

I actually had one this morning coming to work. It was a surprise to me, but I think I just took too big of a sip of my shake. Luckily I had a cup beside me and I pretended to be drinking while I was pb'ing into it. YUCK, I know...But, rather that than anywhere else.

On an unrelated note, this conversation reminds me of my drinking days...I was with my bf and my roommate and I was driving home from the bar (D.D.). My roommate was completely wasted in the back seat and he didn't want to bother me by asking me to pull over when he started feeling sick. So, he threw up in his shirt pocket.

What a gentleman.

OK, who's coming to Houston on May 2nd for the mini LBT get together?

:crying: I'll be there, and I'm bringing DH...Kids welcome, right? If so, DD will be there, too.

G4E - Good morning to you, too!

I've bounced 2 pounds since losing 7 from last Monday. I'm hoping to bounce down a little bit more by the end of this week.

And, good morning!

Sometimes work is hardly worth the effort!

Sometimes, but this was self-imposed. lol I was putting in the max -- $15,500 -- into my 401k every year, and with the leftover, I was depositing an additional $500 a month into a savings account. I was trying to get our retirement kicked up (plus savings) and what I had leftover was just added to the family income.

The GOOD news is I got a call at 10:00 that I have an interview in another court that I've been trying to get into! I go in at 9:00 on Thursday. I have two applications in -- one for supervisor, and another for a higher position which doesn't close until Friday.

That's that whole part about weight loss that I don't GET.

How can 500 extra calories from Sat cause me to gain 2 pounds, that don't go away until somwhere in the middle of last night?

I had dropped 7 from last Monday, over the weekend had 1500 cals on Sat instead of the 1000 that makes me lose weight and I had a 2 pound gain from it.

WHY? & HOW?

I've proven to myself that if I stay at 1000 I can lose or not gain. Anything above that (nearing 1200 - 1500 cals/daily) then I GAIN. WTH?

:crying:

For me it's the salt. Salt is my mortal enemy. I can have a little bit, but stuff like Chinese is nothing but salt. I'm sure for me it's all Water weight. I've been half tempted to get a diuretic.

...but I'm thinking I don't like toddler-hood! LOL! And just think, I get to do it all again when she hits the tweens! Yeah for me! LOL!

Toddler was the BEST stage. I loved it when both mine were toddlers. Trust me, you will miss this stage when she grows out of it.

The bedtime thing is a whole different issue and it's not about being the mean one, but the one who loves her enough to be tough. As a parent, you don't have the luxury of being nice all the time.

 I'll be there, and I'm bringing DH...Kids welcome, right? If so, DD will be there, too.

Yes to loved ones (including kids even if you'll not all that in love with them at the moment).

Nah, it just seemed my efforts (although constant) were so pitifully minor compared to the jocks, that it really wasn't worth posting.

But that's exactly why you have to post. So the newbies to exercise know that not everyone starts out doing 3 hours a day and running 10 miles at a time.

the work to stay under 130 is just insane, and i like wine/food a bit too much to give it all up, so i guess i'm where the bod has decided to given my lifestyle w/diet & exercise.

So you found your happy weight!

I'm trying to now eat like I will eat for the rest of my life. Which means slower weight loss. But when I stop, it will be where I will stay because nothing will change after that.

Tap, I feel the same way! I read the Exercise thread but feel way out of my league there.

See... this is why tap has to post. And Gloucester too. :w00t:

That's that whole part about weight loss that I don't GET.

How can 500 extra calories from Sat cause me to gain 2 pounds, that don't go away until somwhere in the middle of last night?

I had dropped 7 from last Monday, over the weekend had 1500 cals on Sat instead of the 1000 that makes me lose weight and I had a 2 pound gain from it.

WHY? & HOW?

The scale isn't that accurate. It measures all sorts of stuff you don't care about. It's really body fat % that you should look at. What happens if you are steady in your calories in and out is that you lose steady. But the scale masks it by also recording Water weight and other stuff like that.

So let's say you are eating and working out so that you should be losing 2 lb. a week. But one week you have something salty and the scale says no loss because you've lost 2 lb. of fat but gained two pounds of water. The next week, you lose another 2 lb. but you see 4 lb. on your scale because you've lost the water weight too.

Does that make sense?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
