I started this journey 2 months ago, meeting with a doctor at the lifestyle medicine center. I've lost 20+ lbs. I'm feeling better. I went on vacation and was able to stick to my new eating habits. I began having second thoughts about the surgery. Last night, I had my second sleep study using the CPAP. As I was getting ready for the test I was reviewing all of the tests I have had done in the last 6 months. My asthma spiraled out of control last december and it took 5 months, many tests, 2 maintenance inhalers, 2 medications, my PCP and the pulmonologist to get it back under control. I realize that my weight was not the cause of my asthma but definitely didn't help.

Reviewing the test results I was reminded that my quality of life sucked and that if I want to have a healthy, good quality of life in 20 years, I need to address my weight. So I am no longer having second thoughts, I am excited that I only have one more nutrition class, a few visits with the psychologist (since I failed my first eval in April) and 30 days on the CPAP. I've completed many steps to the healthier version of me. I hope to be scheduled by the end of August. :) This message board has been so encouraging! I appreciate your stories and the way you've supported each other.

Welcome to the group! I think we’re all here for similar reasons. For a long time I never considered weight-loss surgery and option because I didn’t have any of the typical comorbidities. But I was truly in denial because all the health issues that I do have, while not the mainstream ones, are caused by my weight. It took a two day hospital stay for me to realize that. So, glad you are here. We’re all in this together!@

What about making "finger jello" it's firm and you could chew it and maybe like a boullion or Soup base for the salt? Just an idea.

This sounds good but it really needs a different name. Lol

I'm all done! Anesthesia makes me super sick so I was a whiny baby for a few hours after surgery but now I just feel sore and a little gas pain in my shoulder. Morphine pump is probably helping on that front 🤣🤣

Yay! Glad everything went well for you!!

I'm being discharged and going home! I was expecting to stay until tomorrow but my surgeon says everything looks great and I'm managing the pain so I can go.

I can stomach certain brands of sugar free Jello but I hate the texture of jello, lol. I thank you for the suggestion though. I’m just going to have some broth for the salt and try to manage the whole not chewing thing

ok, like I said the other day, I have no clue how Instagram works. I did go create an account so I could follow everyone. I probably won't post anything to mine until I figure it out or get my daughter to give me crash course. So, how do I add you guys? (No laughing at the technologically impaired old person either!)

YLime,in my own family we call such Jello, "wall ball". Story starts: my daughter had just had tonsillectomy and hospital served her these gelintinized chunks. She tried to scoop it up with a teaspoon , flew,off her spoon, through,the air, hit the wall and bounced, traveled 3-4 feet back towards the bed before it stopped. R.D. states "I don't care if it is good for me, I don't eat no bouncing food" and it wasn't the hospital' s favorite color, red, but a neon green.😲

@Chrisb428 -

Look for the magnifying glass at the bottom of the app - that’s your search function. After clicking that enter your search term in the box at the top of the page. You can search for people, keywords, or hashtags. Under the search box you’ll see additional filters for your search. As an example, say you are searching for the term gastric sleeve. Once those results appear you can view just people who have that term in their name or the hashtags associated with that term.

I’ve been using IG for a long time - check out my page and pics and you’ll get a feel for what you can do. I'm @i.am.emily.m

I’m sorry to hear your date keeps being changed. September 28th is autumn but we aren’t about technicalities right? You’re part of the summer surgery family regardless! 🤗

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
