How close do they look at your height? I'm about to meet a new doctor on my new insurance in a new town. If they say I'm 5'8 my bmi is 40... If they say I'm 5'9 It's 39.5... I have mild sleep apnea, one kidney, and high cholesterol.

It depends on your dr!!! My one dr was so wonderful and made my height 5’6 when I’m really 5’7 and that made my BMI higher so I qualify.. but now with my other dr he is going by 5’7 and told me that my BMI is 40.7 and not to lose anymore weight or they won’t cover surgery bc I’ll be under BMI.

I hope they go,with the lower height so you'll get your surgery. Its not so much, fudging as beating insurance at their, own game. Besides you will get shorter as you get older anyway.[emoji12]

Me too. I'm hopeful that having switched insurance and starting with a new doctor won't mess anything up.

Mine never measured my height just took me at my word.

True story—I lost about an inch in height with my weight loss, from the bottoms of my feet losing fat! So if they measure you down the road you can always claim it’s that!

OMG Jess, i never thought of that, i've already lost some fat pad from my soles due to age, now I'm going to lose more due to weight loss? Oh s**t, has anybody out there seen the Stock Exchange reports today? I've got to call my broker and see if I can buy stock in Dr Scholl's? I'm going to be a definite customer! At least with less weight pushing down maybe my foot bones won't pop through but they may still stay sore. Oh as the carnival barker said " You pays your money, you takes your choice!" It will be worth it to have the rest of my body thinner, I'll put up with footie[emoji119] pain. And if I get small enough there will be a boy toy or 2 to carry my cute cougar body around. Rowll purrrr![emoji197]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
