Considering cancelling surgery

My comment was not out of the blue. I’ve been commenting since I joined, guess it just depends on the topic.

I’m an app user so I don’t even see an option to fill out a profile - thought that was odd when I joined but it didn’t bother me.

Not ready for a ticker anyway.. my weight will go unspoken until I hit my first goal. Fortunately things are progressing well that it shouldn’t be too long.

I think you may have to be on a regular computer to add all that stuff. It helps to have it cuz it gives a frame of reference for all of us to answer questions and relate to one another. And I said what I did cuz the only thing that shows on you is your nic/ pre-op and that you've made 49 posts evs here and have 36 likes.

In the past there have been posters who make multiple sock-puppet nics just to come in and throw their weight and comments on a pro/con side of a heated debate and to stir the pot. So when I see a nic like your's without the profile stuff filled out and a very low post count, it always sends my Spidey Senses wondering if this is someone's sock-puppet nic.

It’s up to you. If I had to place bets ( and not intending to insult you but I would tell anyone in your position this) I would say that you will lose and regain it all, then some extra - if you don’t do it.

Unless you decide to eat very small portions ( the label serving size) and only very healthy foods, clock carbs, Protein, and fats, and work out daily or several times a week - plus know you can refrain from binge eating naturally and on your own, and unless you know you can do it all natural and without surgery for the rest of your life, I’d definitely have the surgery.

I had no fear, was balls in to do the surgery and excited. I knew I could mess up, had doubts if this would work on me, as if somehow I am different than the thousands of other obese people out there who have this procedure done - but I had been dieting, losing, regaining, even working out 21/2 hours in the gym while imitating the sleeve portions, just to lose 119 pounds and regain it all.

In fact gained an extra 250 pounds over time trying to reach the healthy goal weight for my build and height. My doctor said this surgery turns us healthy and reverses other things such as diabetes and heart issues - I had to do it. He also said the risk of losing and regaining without the surgery (to-to dieting) were 95% high and likely to happen without it.

None of us is an expert when we begin this journey, and none of us knows what will happen after. All of us try or like to think we know what will happen during weight loss with a sleeve. Most people do not go into this surgery knowing 110% they are gonna stick with it, much less be perfect at it, but instead hope that will be the case.

We think we know what we are capable of, or we have a plan and hope for the best.

My question to you and what you may wish to consider, the grenolin is removed when they take the tummy out - for me this kills my hunger, allowing me to plan ahead, and eat less - I also took about six months of OA meetings before the surgery to squelch any head hunger issues. I tackled weaknesses before going in.

You may wish to list the pros and cons.

I think though, if you are here with us sleevers asking, you have s good idea of what you need to do.

Wishing you all the best.

Im scheduled for surgery on sat im really considering cancelling, and try on my own one more time. I havent done the preop diet right have zero motivation. Im scared and anxiety is through the roof. Has anyone had more motivation after surgery? Any thoughts anyone else has thought and done surgery?

Been there done that & couldn’t have regretted it more! I was scheduled for May 30th 2017 & was in the hospital with the IV in my arm & I backed out at the last second. Soon after my addiction to food was realized & I was left wishing I had done it. I was then rescheduled & sleeved January18th. I have never looked back on this decision with any regrets! You will have to do the pre-op diet a second time as I did & possibly the insurance requirements & surgical group requirements as well. Nothing but a step backwards for me personally. I guess I did look back with regret that I hadn’t done this that day in May. Just something for you to consider in making the decision to move forward or not.

I had the same thoughts until I realized that implications of the weight I gained and the next health disaster was more than likely heart failure. I have grandfather and father who both received bypass surgery due to heart complications, so at that moment the surgery was a no-brainer and the decision was not about me, even know it was. Hopefully, I can re-write our family history and break the curse.

Besides, regardless of what we say, you must take the necessary steps to make the decision on your own, so you are able to move on to the next step. I strongly encourage professional guidance from an appropriate counselor to help you get over this challenge and I hope things will become a little clearer to you so you can make the appropriate adult decision. Best of luck to you!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
