Mine was 2 hours long. Hour and a half of talking and question asking, we just had casual conversation it felt like honestly. But her questions were about my child hood, my self image, how I problem solve, etc etc. then a half hour to take a questionnaire on paper that asked the same exact question in 10 different ways to make sure my answers lined up lol it was super annoying.

That was mine. I’ve seen other people say they were in office for ten minutes, some said their psychiatrist required three base visits before determining if they pass or if they need more. It all depends so you’re not going to get a straight answer unless you find someone here who went to the same psych as you.

I went to bariatricpsychevaluations.com and did it through them and didn't have to leave the house. It was basically a 20 minute conversation where half the time is them asking the same medical questions you have probably answered a million times so far and the other half is asking basic psychological questions what's your family like, do you get depressed etc.

Mine was also the fairly straightforward conversation for less than an hour, but I recently saw another thread on this topic and plenty of people said they had to fill out psych profile forms. So the short answer is, it varies. The slightly longer answer is, you probably don't have anything to worry about unless you are delusional in some way about the surgery and what it can do for you.

I didn't know they had such a thing. Did your insurance cover this?

I was supposed to have mine this past week, but had to reschedule it. I had to fill out about 19 pages of paperwork. Lots of questions about your behavior towards food. Your history of being obese. I was told it’s a one hour interview then another test/ questionnaire to do after.
Good luck. Mine is rescheduled for April 3rd I think.

Thanks. I read the form my Dr. Wants filled out. Its basic questions but idk what the psychologist will ask and how long they'll take. Ugh lol. I hate talking to people about personal stuff.

What if you need a form filled out? How would you go about that?

They fax or email whatever you need to your surgeons office.

My psych Evaluation was AWFUL! He told me I am an alcoholic and I have to attend AA. To appease him, I have stopped drinking and have gone to 2 meetings, but now I am afraid he will say I am not a candidate. So scared.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
