Dumping syndrome

Recommended Posts

Dumping sucks honestly. It can last until you get the food out of your system or it can last the entire day. It felt like I was getting my period (I have endometriosis). I get all the symptoms so I just get rid of it and then sleep.

The healing process depends on your body. I stayed out of work for 10 days as my job is highly stressful and demands a lot of attention and energy. However, I was energetic when I went back.

For me it only lasts as long as it takes to spit it up. I went back to work after 10 days but could have after maybe 5. Was grateful to have a few more days just to get the eating Rhythm down

Hmmmm I have not had dumping syndrome yet. I am not three months out yet though and have stayed far away from sugary sweets and high fat foods. I’m scared still I guess to try something that may cause it, or that may reinforce my past bad eating habits.

Dumping syndrome is a bit like a learning experience. Once you have an episode, you never want to repeat the process. There are pre-triggers before you reach full dumping. They can be things like hiccups, sneezing, food will suddenly taste horrible in an instant, mucous. When you hit a pre-trigger, you just stop eating - not one more bit. Otherwise, you will be miserable for around 4 hours. The best way to relieve this situation is to go to the bathroom and force yourself to vomit up your food and empty your stomach. It is also important to not eat for two hours before bedtime. Because when you have dumping at night, you will not be able to sleep. The horizontal position just aggravates the problem. So I generally sit by the TV for a few hours until it passes.

Relle2190... if you follow what we are supposed to or doesn’t happen :). Don’t let that stop making this decision— it’s amazingly life changing

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
