Likely not stretched out. I also had surgery in November and as of recently I can eat more. Just how it works sometimes. If you're really worried ask your surgeon to check

Here's a few things to consider :

How big was the portion ?

How long did it take you to eat it?

Why were you unable to notice you ate the whole thing ?

Did you ever continue eating past your full sensation?

Are these types of foods allowed on your nutrition plan?

Keep track of these things when you eat and it will be less likely that you'll make the same mistakes

And if you are still worried ask your surgeon for help

my advice is to CALM DOWM.

you didn’t stretch anything. nothing is wrong. just keep moving forward. this is a marathon, not a sprint. mistakes (not that this is even one) happen and will continue to happen. learn, forgive, and move on. :1312_thumbsup_tone3:

Don't worry! According to my surgeon and what I've read, it's next to impossible to stretch your stomach. What has probably happened is you're fully healed now and swelling has gone down, so you're able to fit more in. Also remember that a tuna sandwich is pretty soft food, so we can eat more.

I remember at 3 months I had a really big tofu sub and I was surprised I could fit it all in! Just make sure you're taking small, slow bites (one per minute) and you'll be fine.

If you ate a full sandwich without realizing your eating to fast. Take your time. And try to say cut in half . Put the other half away so your not tempted to eat more. I'm 7 months out I couldn't dare try and eat a whole tuna sandwich . After half I feel I might be dying lol

It's nearly impossible to stretch your stomach out. I would say you ate too fast. That happens with me sometimes.

I’m over a year post opp and I still can’t eat a whole tuna sandwich on simple sandwich bread. Either your stomach swelling went down already or you are eating too fast. Keep in mind that you got surgery to lose weight and become healthy. Drink Water an hour before your meal. Chew slower. Don’t watch tv or be distracted, focus on the food so you can see how much and what you are eating. Also watch portions. Next time make the sandwich and only put half on your plate wrap the rest up for later

I wonder didn't other people not get pain. Im 7 m post and the pain from a whole sandwich would be unbearable. I wouldn't even try it. I agree eating too fast it must be. As that's like an extra trick for me is eating extra slow and the first hint of fullness I stop and don't go back to it.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
