Breathing the free air again at last my friends!

Recommended Posts

After many years of struggling to take a full breath and trying to catch my breath at the slightest of tasks I can now breathe freely. So many things we take for granted one of them being the air we breathe. I’ve struggled to get the mail go up and down the stairs doing the slightest of tasks around home even taking a shower and getting dressed was exhausting having difficulty putting on my socks and tying my shoes. This may even be premature as I’m only 16 days out at this point and could possibly find it easier to breathe further down the road. Mainly I noticed this while swimming and I was able to hold my breath underwater longer than I have in years. Right now I just know that I am finding it easier to breathe and not having shortness of breath is awesome! I can’t wait to play outside with my kids this summer! If it only gets better from here on out I welcome it!

Ditto.

When I first went back to swimming (170kg or 375 pounds) I could hold my breath for 15-18 seconds.

Now (at 138kg or 304 pounds) I'm good for 45-50 seconds.

If your buoyancy changes anything like "normal", you will mirror my experience.

As I have lost 36kg (80 pounds), my body sits lower in the Water. MY REMAINING BODY IS FAR MORE DENSE.

I have lost some of the less dense visceral fat.

According to my sister and another of my swim buddies, I am 50mm-80mm lower in the water ... i.e. 2" to 3" difference.

336Mike and Rainbow Warrior, I am so proud to know you both. You have gone to sleek silvery fish from whales, I can use the term, because I still have my blubber layer but,it will start melting soon and I'll become a flexible fish also. It won't be easy but it will be so so good.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
