Did someone actually want me to look? No one asked me to look, I had just taken it upon myself to grab a few better rates. I didn't hold anything or make any plans. I put it out there but no one really wanted to say much about it so I figured I would just back off a bit. I just thought the Excalibur wasn't as good of a "deal" as some of the others. And I figured that people can put that extra $40 they save on hotel right into the slots! ha ha

Wasn't everyone psyched to be at Excalibur? (although I don't like that hotel because it isn't a good walk from/to the strip, even though it is "on" the strip, but FAR to one end of it). My personal opinion is that MID strip would be best and one of the older strip hotels like the Sahara or the Riviera (which aren't as "themed" but are still clean and nice) but they have all done this before so I figured they wanted to plan and execute it?

Who is heading this project up? DeLarla? Penni? Whoever is doing it should try and get some group rates going. Vegas hotels are BIG on providing wonderful group rates!

Lisa and I worked on it last year but the hotels I spoke to wouldn't give a very good rate. You actually could get a cheaper rate going to the websites. But if you wanna start looking at hotels be my guest. I am bunking with lisa this time so it doesn't affect me where everyone stays.

Hey Jenna: Why not take a stab at the hotels and see what you can find then post the info.

I for one and so ready for a vacation to anywhere and looking forward to the Vegas Bash.

I am still planning to come. I have been checking out a couple of the travel sites and am trying to figure out a deal.

I posted it awhile back but I found that:

Riviera: $92 a night (my second choice)

Imperial Palace: $98 a night (third choice)

Circus Circus: $85 a night (but this isn't one I recommend, I think it is old and in need of repairs)

Sahara: (my personal favorite) $89 a night

Stratosphere: $104 a night (fourth choice only because it is far at one end again)

That is just what I had found. Sure beats $140 a night at Excalibur but some really like the "new" hotels on the strip. I just personally think Excalibur is at the end and not walk friendly. And if someone wants to get an approximate "room count" I can check into the group rates if you want. They could get even more inexpensive. Who is the official "coordinator"?????

Jenna: I don't think there is an "official coordinator". I tried my hand at it last year with Lisa's help. I think we did OK. But I don't want to take it on this year.

I elect Jenna as the coordinator. All in favor?

LMAO whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa nellie!

I guess if no one else wants the job I will take it but you need to really get the info down for me on how many rooms. I will make the calls and create a group booking. The booking would allow each person to call for themselves and book their room. Although, I would need for everyone to get an accurate (approximate) room count. Those that are sharing, those that want their own, etc. In the sharing instance it will be MUCH better if ONE person pays the nights and the other person reimburses them.

Okay, so here is what I need.... I need for you to start adding.

Take the count and add to it, don't just post "i will be there".

Penni, you want to take the reigns on getting a head count and then I will call and start buzzing in the group discount bugs ear!

I can't keep my mouth shut any more so I'm gonna start with a mini hi-jack... JENNA IS A BABE! Now back to business.

Last year I took on too much and got really stressed out. So anyone wanting to volunteer for different projects would be greatly appreciated. I organized 9000 items of clothes (till wild women tore through it like fresh kill!) Shopping, cleaning, cooking, airport/hotel shuttle-girl, filtering calls, finding last minute rooms, giving directions, introductions, internet research, doors knocking, photo albums, new friends, white elephants, rumors that my hubby was doing my neighbor and that I was bisexual.... Arrgghhh! I finally grabbed a bucket of Carol's margueritas and jumped in the pool with my clothes on (don't listen to rumors about my underwear cuz I did JUMP IN dressed.)

Anyone that didn't come last year, prep for a blast! No worries, no huge suitcases, no fancy clothes (unless they're for the exchange.) It's going to be hot in September and Vegas for the most part has gone completely casual unless you plan to go clubbing. Slacks or skirt, nice blouse & cha-cha heels are fine.

Are we doing a white elephant exchange? I like the idea.

We WILL play the name game!

Any other games?

Any other ideas so things run smoother (last year half the people were in the pool during the clothing exchange & white elephant deal)

Are we having awards?

How about our own version of LBT SURVIVOR game? Oh, this could be fun!

I'll do the cooking. For those that want to bring food or cook, I'll take us to the grocery store. I'll make reservations and plan the meal at Buca for Friday night. But can we have volunteers for:

-Hotel room information/reservation, etc.

-Clothing Exchange Coordinator/Organizer

-Front Door Greeter/Phone Answerer (my cell & home lines were ringing like mad)

-Party Planner (for the party at my house to coordinate awards ceremony, clothing exchange, white elephant exchange, name game, coordination of when we throw Penni in the pool, etc.)

-Anyone driving that could pick others up from the airport? (5 minutes from my house.)

Did I miss anything?

rumors that my hubby was doing my neighbor and that I was bisexual.... Arrgghhh!

ROTFLMAO!!

Don't miss the LV bash if you can help it!! It was great last year - even though I was one of the problem children (I'm blaming it on my SO - it's his fault we were so late to the BBQ, I swear!). :)

Buca was also a great place to start the festivities. Yum - Lisa, you ordered just right.

I've been out of touch with this thread, so maybe someone should bump the dates for this event?

We don't want a totally formally organized event, but last year a bunch of people were late for dinner. This year I'll make reservations for 6:00 p.m. Friday night (last year was 5:00.) Would that help? And festivities at my shack begin Saturday - whenever Penni and Megan get their butts out of bed.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
