Normal not be under 200 pounds 8 months post op?

Not sure this is the right place to ask for money for college. Maybe try Facebook or Instagram. This is a bariatric support website....

Is normal to not be under 200 pounds 8 months post op? I started off at 298. I am now 205. And i am at a stall

It could very well be a stall. Have you spoken to your nutritionist since surgery? What are you eating on a daily basis?

You are losing 11 lbs a month. How long since the scale moved. Also what about body measurements. You are doing great. I must track all food and exercise. [emoji5]. Keep us updated.

@Darrie97

you lost 93 lbs in 8 months (don''t look at me, I didn't take them:D)

stalls do eventually break - most of us have been there, done that!!

you'll probably weigh under 200 lbs sooner than later. then continue

your Quest to GOAL - good luck

Still healthier than 298, you've lost a high school cheerleader already. Isn't it nice to not drag her around with you? You're better than you were before, keep your diet and fluids smooth, don't slack off with exercise and you will be fine. Weight loss can be bumpy at times.

Your weight loss is phenomenal! People must be commenting on it positively. Think how unlikely it is that you would have lost 98 pounds without the surgery. You have probably replaced all the clothes in your wardrobe.

We talked in my sleeve support group about plateaus or “stalls.“ Apparently most people experience them and they are always frustrating. The advice given was to “hang in there,” as people could go weeks stuck on the same number on the scale and then all the sudden lose 3, 4, or 5 pounds all at once. If you haven’t been back to your dietitian recently, you may want to do that so that he or she can review your diet. Try making small changes in diet or exercise or Water. I am so impressed with what you have already done.

I agree with the others. I would love to average out over 10-11 lbs per month which you have done. Also, everyone has a different “ normal.” As long as the scale is moving in the right direction, you’re golden.

@Darrie97

hey bud - it's been around 7 weeks since your original post.

i thought your weight loss was great then, and you were doing fine.

has your dream weight of being under 200 lbs happened? if it did, that's great. if not, that's ok too.

i know it will happen. - remember, this is a sprint, not a race - good luck - chin up - life is good, gets better all the time. PATIENCE:rolleyes: kathy

Kathy [emoji7]are you sure it's not:" it's a Journey, not a Race or Sprint". At least that's the way I've always heard it presented." You can be a mover and a groover when you no longer suck food up,like a Hoover!" There's my new and profound.Thought for the Day.[emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
