For any of you guys did it hurt to drink Water a day after surgery? I just got my sleeve done yesterday and feel like it hurts when I drink!m? Is this normal! Plus I sleep on my stomach and side and was wondering you for sleep if you only were on your back!

Thanks!

Try different temperatures for the Water. I found that sometimes cold didn't hurt. Sometimes room temp, sometimes warm. Also, small sips. If I sipped to big, it hurt. Also, I found that adding flavor helped. Adding Crystal Light or Mio made a difference for me.

I sleep on back, stomach and side. It wasn't really an issue. But, sip slowly. Don't try to guzzle water. Use a shot glass and sip a shot at a time.

Yes! Water hurt me for a long time! Crystal Light ice tea with lemon flavor goes down smooth for me. I'm three years past surgery & still enjoy it! Good luck & welcome to the other side!

I got mine yesterday, too. I got nauseous after drinking some Gatorade. I think I drank too much. Try smaller sips, maybe?

I had my surgery 2 days ago. Water does hurt going down for me too. Oddly flavored Vitamin Water isn’t so bad. Hoping it gets better day by day.

Oh good, I felt like I was the only one. Do you also have to wait a second to feel a gurgle to know it’s going down right?

Thats natural.. I had the same feeling for at least 3 weeks, but it gets better, nothing to worry about.. you shouldn’t sleep on your stomach.. sleep on your back.. best of luck and you will be like nothing happened shortly.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
