West Virginia: blue cross blue shield

Anyone in WV go through (or currently going through) the process of getting vsg (or wls in general) with BCBS?

I officially start my 6 month phase on Jan 5 (first appointment with my surgeon/team) and I’m wondering if there are any super big hurdles that BCBS throws in front of you?! Lol!!

I’m a state employee and have BCBS of Mississippi. They’re probably pretty similar. I had to be on a doctor supervised diet (with monthly weigh ins) for 6 months, see a nutritionist and a psychiatrist. Make sure you go see the dr. EVERY MONTH! I missed one month by a few days and had to start all over.

Thanks so much for replying!! That’s exactly what I have to do! Hopefully this 6 months flies!!!

The six months were fine! It’s the two days on a liquid diet that are killing me! Haha! Going in on the 28th. Good luck to you! Let me know how it goes!

Lol!! You mean you’re on day two.. or you only had to do it for two days? I see some have to do it for two weeks ??? I’m not sure what my surgeon requires yet. But I’ll gladly do it if it means ending this obesity battle (that sounded like some sort of cheesy infomercial ?)

I did liquids for a week, then clear liquids two days before. I’m surprised I’ve done such a good job! The liquid diet with protein shakes was ok. It really made me realize that a lot of hunger was in my head.

That sounds way better than 2 weeks! I hope all goes well!! I bet you’re so excited!

I am! I’ve been jumping through hoops, and now it’s here!
