After my sleep study on Tuesday night, I was hoping to announce a NSV of being rid of my CPAP, but...not quite. My OSA is down to “mild” from “severe,” though, and without a CPAP, I’m down to 13 arousals an hour from 117 when I first had a sleep study in 2011 (and was 110 pounds heavier).

So here’s another NSV: Yesterday I accidentally threw our garage door opener in a Dumpster, and without thinking about it, I boosted myself onto the lip of the Dumpster and leaned in to retrieve it.

Amazing!

But now I know I have to stop skimming while reading because all I saw the first time was arousal and dumpster...

Hiked up two (2) mountains this summer. 12,998' and 14,202'. Tried the first one three years ago and almost passed out within the first 20 mins.

WOW!!!

I don’t get turned on by Dumpsters.

Well, not that time.

I know this is an old post but I enjoy reading the new added non scale victories. I had one today. I will have my RNY in October. I am counting down. So this is a big one for me. Even before surgery .
I used to love to do yard work. When we bought our house 18 yrs ago my husband and I would spend the day doing yard work together , we loved it. Well that changed when my weight went up and up and up. Well today was the first day I was able to mow our yard in years. Not only did I mow the entire yard, I only had to stop to put gas in the lawn mower . My husband was so happy and proud of me. I think happy because I asked if I could mow next time. We have a good sized yard and I had a great time. I laughed like crazy when I realized I was done and he kept asking me if I was ok. I told him I was great and gave him a big hug and kiss. He started to laugh with me.

So at the beginning of the month I realized I needed to figure out some sort of fall/ winter jacket options. In the land of PNW I find a need a mix of rain jackets and omg why is is so cold jacket.

I ordered a few options from Lands end (so much on sale) and ended up having to return several things because they were just too big. As an XL and even a Large. Blink blink. I just got my second order where I ordered medium talls or 12 Tall and while a little tight in the belly everything fit. I still have 30-40 to go and said to my Mr “I don’t recognize the person in the mirror”. This is after being stalled for 3 weeks due to my emergency gallbladder removal and having no energy to exercise and dealing with some appetite/food changes.

Realized I had another one today. I dropped off three black garbage bags of business clothing at the local shelter that offers business clothing for homeless women transitioning back to the workforce. It was amazing to drop off mostly 22/24 clothing that they very much needed. And yes this means I no longer have it to save just in case.

I haven't read the entire thread but here are some of my NSVs:

Biggest one for me is that I SMILE when I see myself in the mirror. I actually look, smile, think "Gee that looks cute" or something along those lines. I have NEVER liked the way I look... until now. This makes me so happy that sometimes I cry.

I have collarbones! And shoulder bones, hip bones... I really DO have a skeleton!

No need for a seatbelt extender on the plane, or hoping that nobody sits next to me so I don't "overlap" on them. Overlap is also gone from movie theater seats, amusement rides, etc. Many thanks to my good friends who tolerated my "flopping" on them through all those many shows of Nutcracker (our daughters are ballerinas).

I can wear regular shoes again. Yes, I still love my crocs, but now there are actual options- even heels!

I fit through the turnstiles at some of the rides at Disney World this summer... and I wore a bathing suit to the pool!

@AshAsh1 recently said in another thread that she is finding her true fashin style. I realized that I am doing the same.

I wore this outfit to a party tonight. I never before would have worn either white pants nor a yellow top. And I felt fantastic in it! :)

Not weight-related, but definitely lifestyle-related:

One of my sons, who graduated in May, got his first job - starting Monday! He accepted the job offer Wednesday night, so this was all a major scramble. Yesterday, we moved him about 50 miles to the far side of Dallas, then spent the rest of the day at Bed, Bath & Beyond stocking his apartment. He lived at home all through college, so this is his first time alone. He's an identical twin, so he even had a womb-mate! He has literally never been alone before. So, I'm praying that he really enjoys the new job and the feeling of maturity you get by handling your own business.

That leaves us with 2 still in school who will hopefully finish up and move on in the next year. Empty nest - here we come! Woohoo!

I'm packing for a trip next week to the rain soaked Mid Atlantic. Boots needed, right?

Uh ... I guess not for this trip!

I expected them to be a little big, but not unwearable!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
